Oh, is this the Campbell thing? I haven't read the whole thing yet (I will now), but I think it's safe to assume that a head or two will roll.

What an enormous story. If the MSM runs with this and starts making calls and trying to find answers, you could see a huge fall out.

I posted that in the General Hockey thread yesterday...it's on TSN now and Campbell already responded... Bill Daly commented on it as well. I don't think it will lead to much of anything.

Yeah, him too. Bobrovsky.

I can tell you who should be fired after reading that: Colin Campbell - immediately. It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it's bad enough.

Yeah you'd think that, but then you see Bill Daly defending him and the fact that he's buddy-buddy with Bettman and you just know that he will still hold his title.

I'm shocked that these douchebags would close ranks like that. Shocked.

Sens related:

Will Brian Lee be waived or will David Hale be waived? The Sens would run the risk of Hale being claimed if he's waived - ditto Lee. With Lee it's almost time to waive him and hope someone picks him up, I'd much rather Hale stay as the 7th D-man.

I think Lee is tradeable and that Murray is just holding out hope for more.

If it came down to waiving him or dealing him out West for a F on a 1 way deal making less than a million I probably take option #2.

Melnyk probably doesn't want to pay the money though, which I understand so we'll probably just waive him if we can't get a pick.

I can understand Melnyk not wanting to waste another red penny, but if we waive him, what happens if no one picks him up? That's almost a million a year to play in Bingo.

It crossed my mind, but I have a yough time believing that nobody would pick him up.

I could be wrong but I still see potential there and he would definitely be an upgrade in some teams bottom pairings.

I suppose Lee could fetch something in return. Sure you can lose him for nothing on waivers and a team might get lucky to claim him, but if Murray says he is going to waive him, that forces teams that risk missing out paying up to get a cheap, young D.

If someone would pick him up on waivers, it means Bryan Murray's price is too high on the trade front and he needs to dial it down a little.

My personal take on the Avery situation is that the time is coming for someone to absolutely hurt him. You can't go around the league running your mouth, drilling guys in the face when you've just told them you'd fight next shift, playing dirty.

The Oilers, to a man it appears, all want a piece of him with Peckham (sp) saying that Avery did this because he knew he wouldn't be playing the Oil again - and I agree. But what of the 15 teams in the East? I realize that he won't just be attacked, but the next time one of the BIG dudes in the East has an opportunity, I think we're gonna be dealing with a shattered orbital bone, nose etc. And it's 100% due to Avery IMHO (although I don't condone hurting guys on purpose, this league is dangerous enough).

Avery is the best at what he does.

Beware though - bringing up Avery and wanting civil discussion is like saying nobody ever goes to that restaurant anymore because it is always to crowded.

The reason I think the end is coming for him - not death, but a SOLID beating - is the way players from other teams are starting to talk about him. They're not starting to dislike him, they're starting to loathe him.

That is exactly what Avery wants. He wants someone to lose their temper and put their team down a man. He doesn't care; it is worth it to him.

Avery is a smart guy, too smart for his own good actually. He is beyond the game of hockey already with a clothing line, 2 or 3 very successful restaurants in New York City and I believe a screenplay is in the works based solely around the character of Sean Avery.

Yeah, he loves the attention - although I stick to my guns and say that when his orbital bone is broken so badly parts of it are lying on the ice - I think he'll begin to see just how much teams and players hate him. I have a picture in my mind of Chara doing it when a game is out of hand (before the final 5 minutes) and absolutely hammering him. I look forward to it actually. Smile
