Wow, Don Cherry just reamed Burke on HNIC... lambasted him for not having a single Ontario-born player on the Ontario capital's team. Says every single team has at least one Ontario born player - but the Leafs lean towards Americans, and what good has it doen them since Burke took over...

A little over the top, but that's Cherry. And, as usual, he is not wrong.

Maclean kept trying to get a word in and when he tried to play Devil's advocate Cherry wasn't hearing it.

It is pretty sad to think that Toronto doesn't even have a Toronto player let alone an Ontario born player on their NHL roster.

I get what Burke is trying to do, but it's not working. And it seems he's stubborn and set in his ways and it shows in the team he assembles.

Toronto does have 10 Canadians, 3 of whom are from Saskatchewan. That might be an NHL record.

So, I just looked at all 7 Canadian teams and every single one except the Leafs has at least one player born in the same province as the team is located.

I tweeted Don Cherry last night to say it's odd that the capital of Ontario doesn't have a single Ontarian on their NHL roster yet every other Canadian team has at least 1 player born in that province.

Some dumbass replied to me saying "too bad TO is not the capital" lol. I hope he's American. Unfortunately he is Canadian :S How embarrassing.

People actually care about the capitals of states and provinces now? good lord. That's pushing it.

Sounds like someone is challenged unfortunately.

The real issue about Toronto not having a single Ontarian on their NHL roster is that lots and lots and lots of hockey players are developed through the GTAHL and a lot of them grow up as Leaf fans and dream of playing for them.

If Toronto was winning... this would not even be a story...
