Does Crawford speak French?

I hate that that's a valid question.

Apparently he's talking lessons. Marinaro was speculating (on AM-990, what's his show -- Off Side?) that this is why the Habs have not made an announcement yet -- they were waiting to see the results. He was half-joking, though.

Bobby Mac says it's down to Therrien and Crawford...

https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/208226042408742913

"Now that Bob Hartley is new head coach in CGY - official release momentarily - MTL job is down to Michel Therrien or Marc Crawford."

Slightly modified.

I could also see Crawford's interview: "But you spell it with a 'c' -- are you sure you're not french?"

Crawford speaks french. That won't be an issue.

This is from Pat Hickey:

We know a little more about Crawford's language skills. He has a French mother — hence the c at the end of his first name — and his wife is a French-Canadian. He was once the head coach of the Nordiques and was able to handle daily press conferences in French, although the francophone media regularly stuck around for the English portion of his remarks because he expressed himself better in his native tongue.

It's been a *long* time since he's had to handle press conferences in French.

I wouldn't want either Crawford or Therrien coaching my team. Two undesirable coaches in my eyes.

Maybe Carbo will return ? Laughing3

Funny how two of the best bilingual coaches in the NHL right (AV and Julien - SC winner and runner-up) both got their start in Montreal, got sacked and went on to success in other organizations. And then there is Guy Boucher.

Might just be a matter of the Montreal press putting a name out there that they want and passing it off as reporting on a legitimate candidate.
