Fantasy Pool 2010-2011

yeah i'd rather do draft and no cap. complicates things to much and i don't have that much time to prepare.
straight up, points like was already presented. i like the idea of 12 forwards, 6 D and 2 G.
will be nice to keep me going. i'm afraid i won't be in canada as of january. looks like i'm off to thailand for 6 months. i'll have to watch streamed games at 7 in the morning :****: but hey! it's a small price to trade snow for palm trees

Ok quick little update.

A) if everyone could vote in the poll that would be great, just to give me an idea of what we all want.

B) Its going to be a Points Pool (unless anyone is really against it)

C) We will probably be having an online draft judging on how the voting is going, (if it is a complication for you to be on we will try to arrange something or find a solution)

D) Looking like its going to be no cap...

E) No trading, No waivers

F) Finally we need to pick a date for the draft, along with a time that works for everyone.

Just started taking names yesterday, so you are fine. As for the time i am free from 3pm-12pm (not that we would be doing a draft at 12 pm but you get the point.

September 10th unless, I would prefer that we do it September 6th but that might be to soon.

OK, I may have voted "online" but, frankly, what does that mean, exactly?

We used to schedule a draft at work during the lunch hour (well, "hour" was rather loosely defined). It was definitely "off-line" (although some of us had wireless, and one year the pool admin actually entered the names into OfficePools right as the draft was going on). But, nevertheless, that's an offline draft.

Last year here, we did a draft that was done by message board. It was excruciatingly slow, even though we tried everything in our powers to speed it along. Was that online? Of course. But is that what is meant in the poll?

A couple of years ago I joined yet another pool, where the drafting was done using Yahoo draft. We all gathered around our keyboards at a prescribed time and went through it. The tool allowed you to rank your players, queue up picks and so on. You could, literally, rank everyone and then it would do all the picks for you. It was horrible because, while it allowed me to rank players, it did not allow you to make any kinds of strategy picks as to when to pick which positions. If you were letting it pick for you, it would simply try to fill-in by position as it saw fit. My team was pretty horrible. I'd never want to do that again unless I could allocate the time; but I know I won't, not with 4 kids. However that draft was certainly online.

So, maybe the poll should be changed to real-time versus non-real-time, and in that case I would have to vote non-real-time. Just *not* the way we did it last year on the message boards.

It will let me enter the picks and stuff which i will do we just need a find a way to draft, sadly you can't just do an online draft with a bigger time limit(to bad because the online is very easy and quick). So we need to find a way do a draft, well this is were the brains step in and i step out. (im sure there is a solution.)

Over in the other thread Big Ev suggested fantrax.com. They let you do an online draft with no time limits.

Yup...CBS also has this, but it's only for their $ keeper leagues.

If everyone can PM me there emails it will send you to the site we are using, just follow the steps and you should be ok. It will give you all the information on the site or i will just answer your questions.

Yahoo! is great for setting up the league, keeping track of points, trash talking. When I did their online draft I was disappointed with the results. Mind you, that was a few years back (I thought a couple, but I've been in this house nearly 4 years, now, and I think that draft was back in the old one).
