I've got a suggestion.

- 12 forwards, 6D, 2G
- No draft, everyone takes the player they want. BUT, we include a salary cap.
- hat trick / goalie SO = 5 points
- +/-

That way we can really bet on some low salary guys (underachievers, entry level contract etc) who we think will break out.
It`s a bit complicated, but it's seriously freaking competitive, as opposed to last year's... and we don't need a long draft...
It's just a suggestion, of course.

I just don't want anything that involves daily tweaking like sitting players, trades, waiver wire, etc. And I don't know enough about rotisserie style pools.
Im leaning towards points pool, No trades or Waivers, counting Goals, Assists, Short Handed Goals, and for Goalies, Wins and shut outs

I'm in no matter the format. And yes, we use capgeek calculator.

i like this idea, are we using yahoo or running of the forums.. i looked at the yahoo it would be easier to track everything and keep it from cluttering the forums.. but both ways work, also i wouldn't have to manually do everything Sarcasm

I like the idea of a salary cap, but I don't like when teams can have the same players. I would rather have a draft, as it's more competitive when every team has different players.

Also, a hat trick shouled be worth more points than a shutout as they occur less.

and I'm not a fan of +/- but I don't mind it either

I actually tried the cap pool last year or the year before that. It was damn hard to pick. All kinds of strategies -- and I had a nifty Excel-based tool (a modified UPP) to help me along.

Frankly, I'm not sure I'd want to do that again. I actually prefer having players that are *mine* and not shared.

We could always have two pools -- a cap all-pick, and a points draft.

We use something like Yahoo as usual, it's easier to track.

I've been doing a salary cap pool for 2 years now, I can tell you guys it's very competitive and the teams don't look the same that much, because you'll have to choose between Crosby, Malkin and OVechkin for instance. OR take all three and have scrubs to fill the line up...
It's very strategic. Take a gamble on a low salary goalie, not being afraid of taking a rookie early, have a few dark horse picks that would make or break your team along with some safer picks...

Oh, and I'd also love to have 2 points for goals by defensemen.

Seriously, I don't know about you guys but last year was kinda boring I thought, it was over basically halfway through the season, nobody didn't even care anymore after the olympic break...

The idea is to have those sleeper picks that win you the pool, which would bring way more satisfaction for the winner, and nobody would be afraid of drafting them early.

This one is going to be full season. IM fine with salary cap just because cap geek makes things so easy, we could also set a higher salary cap like in the sim league depending on the amount of people that want to join.

Yahoo Football pools have this thing right now where you "bid on players" and it has a cap structure but you don't end up with the same players.

It's kind of an interesting way of going about it and could be a nice change for guys that are in a handful of pools every year.

I can go make a league and start entering everyone in, pretty much need to know how the draft is going, Salary cap, Auction style, regular (one at a time, no duplicates) once we figure it out we can get out of this slump of a month. I will stop taking entries around september 10, that way we can have the draft finished by the pre-season.

yeah i'd rather do draft and no cap. complicates things to much and i don't have that much time to prepare.
straight up, points like was already presented. i like the idea of 12 forwards, 6 D and 2 G.
will be nice to keep me going. i'm afraid i won't be in canada as of january. looks like i'm off to thailand for 6 months. i'll have to watch streamed games at 7 in the morning :****: but hey! it's a small price to trade snow for palm trees Ole!
