earthquake of 5.1 hits Ottawa

Now I know nothing about earthquakes to know if that is a serious one or not, just checking to see all is okay with everyone up there, no property damage and the like, must have been a scary feeling for most of you, not used to stuff like that. hope all is well up there.

I heard it was 5.5? I guess there's too many conflicting stories at this point. Gotta love the jokes that this has produced though.

Thanks SF so far so good. That was one scary moment. My stomach is still in knots and I definitely can't work anymore. Trying to get out of here, dont' like being in a building when something like this is happening.

My whole office was laughing at me, we're on the 4th floor and I went into one of our meeting rooms under the door like they teach you when you're young, however, when you're on the 4th floor I don't think a door frame is going to help you out at all.

Thank the Lord it wasn't worse than that. I hope that's the last of it.

Epicentre was said to be 61KM north of Ottawa (ON/PQ border), where the magnitude was 5.5 - 19.2 KM deep underground

I don't think Volchenkov will want anything in the 5 - 5.7 viscinity anymore

According to USGS it was 5.5 just around Buckingham QC. I have to laugh though...CBC has the story and they interviewed some lady in Toronto talking about watching the plants on her window sill of the 8th floor office shake.

Really CBC the best you could do was contact someone in Toronto, not closer like Ottawa.

I was on the 6th floor of our office building and things wern't just shaking, they were shifting....better yet, some poor window washer was sitting on his harness/seat and his eyes were huge when he got down. He said the building was moving around on him...

Well being in Toronto myself that's all I am seeing, and I am only hearing from friends about what Ottawa was like.

A couple from San Diego was visiting TO and they asked them about it and they said "we didn't even feel anything".

I was sitting in the East Block courtyard in the parliament buildings, was pretty worried that those old windows would bust open, they were shaking pretty hard. Was pretty wild.

Was sitting in a Timmies on Bank and it was pretty ridiculous. A lady's wheelchair toppled and a few coffee pots fell over.

Funnies thing was that everyone in there, except one guy, just sat there drinking their coffee calmly like nothing happened. The one guy freaks out and runs for a doorway/out of the building, haha.
