PHI acquires Hamhuis

So do they talk to these guys for sure before they trade for their rights? I guess it's notthat much to give up if he doesn't sign.

I would almost bet at this point that he doesn't sign there.

Parent was really falling out of favour in Philly, so maybe this is just a way of trying to get the kid back on track. If the conditional pick is a 2nd or 3rd I wouldn't be surprised if Hamhuis doesn't get signed at all.

I realize now that I don't think I was a big fan of Parent, so I don't mind this as a trade for the Flyers.

I was huge on Parent heading into that draft year and still think he has #2 potential or even #1 on a bad team but that deal that sent him to the Flyers was the worst thing for him.

In some regards it was bad for Nashville too, because Parent could have developed into the guy to take Hamhuis' place (although Franson/Klein/Grebshekov could do it too).

i personally think that if it's carter being shipped out LA will be a fron runner

makes alot of sense to me and it's about even cap value. but philly ads another player to their line-up making it easier for them to get their 23 roster.
i'm sure they would love quick and his 1.8 mill hit and instent number 1 status(plus he's signed for the next 3 years)

Dustin Brown is their captain, that's not exactly falling out of favour.

Not that it's necessarily a bad deal for either team, I just don't see why either team would need to pull the trigger on this type of deal.

dustin Brown has had a sub-par season in comparisson to what was expected of him.
he's no longer considered one of their top dogs.
plus philly will concentrate on nabbing a goalie and quick has been a big part of what LA has been doing but i think they prefer bernier.
it makes complete sense for both teams to pull this trade. i could see philly going for simmons also instead of D brown . but simmons is a popular guy in LA right now.

No way LA trades Brown. He's not known for scoring, that is a bonus. He's a leader and one of the best hitters. His physical game is awesome and he's on such a ridiculous cheap contract. He will score 20-25 goals no problem, and probably 50-60 points. Not bad.

Philly just made it all the way to game 6 of the Cup Finals with Boucher/Leighton leading the charge. they don't need to give up Carter to pickup a goaltender they just need to sign a better UFA or trade a lesser player like Carle to make something happen.

LA is on the way to great things with the roster they have. Carter would be a nice piece, but not at the expense of their young captain who can play a great 2way game on the 2nd line.

Like I said, the deal makes sense to a certain extent, but look deeper and I don't think either team pulls the trigger.

Yeah, I don't understand why the Flyers insist on getting another goalie when Leighton and Boucher were amazing for them. They should be thankful that those two guys probably won't be more than 3 million combined.
