boucher to columbus?

It appears the Columbus Blue Jackets have decided on their next coach and now must wait for an answer.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Blue Jackets have extended an offer to Guy Boucher, the curent head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.

NHL sources told the Dispatch that Boucher is sitting on the offer this weekend with plans to give his response to Blue Jackets' general manager Scott Howson sometime next week.

In his first year in the AHL, Boucher guided the Bulldogs to a first place finish in the Western Conference with 115 points. The team was upset by the Texas Stars in the Conference Finals last month.

The report indicates that Boucher was interviewed twice by Howson in the last few weeks.

Before joining the Blue Jackets, Howson was the general manager of the Bulldogs as a member of the Edmonton Oilers organization.

this is going piss the hell out montreal fans if he agrees. he's seen as

A: the best candidate for preparing prospects to step into the NHL and so far as done a great job.(i've read alot of comments from AHLers from the bulldogs and thenm saying it's very night and day since he's come there)

B: the future coach of the Habs once they've beaten martin back to his hole.

I say screw Montreal. It's nothing personal, it's business. The guy's got a chance to coach an NHL team, which means a higher paying job with a lot more luxuries and prominence. Sure, he can wait around in the AHL until Montreal comes calling if that ever happens, but here's his chance now. And no reason he can't leave the job in a few years to go back (to Montreal).

TSN is reporting that Guy Boucher has allegedly turned down an offer to coach the Blue Jackets.

guess he really want's to coach the habs someday.

Columus newspaper reporting that Scott Arniel will be introduced as the Jackets' new coach tomorrow.

don't know much about him appart from him coaching the moose. good record...
