I didn't hear the first two, but I'm imagining it's either

Alfie-Spezz-Heatley
Vermette-Fisher-WInchester

or

Winchester-Spezz-Heatley
Alfie-Fisher-Vermette

On team 1200, they just said expect Ohlund to get moved soon, but I'm not willing to give Vermette for Ohlund.

What about Nikulin plus McAmmond?

Nikulin has apparently asked for a trade. Thing is, he couldn't just get a roster spot ahead of the likes of Donovan, Bass, Winchester or McAmmond, he couldn't even get a shift in the pre-season. Who would want him?

For Ohlund or Bieksa, I would drive McAmmond and Nikulin to Van City. I am fairly sure they won't do that. Mac is basically a spare part and Nikulin is proving that he is not much of a prospect. It would take Vermette or a package like O'Brien and Schubert, unless they get really desparate. BTW for Bieksa I would do it.

My thinking is that Nikulin is hungry to play in the NHL, and Vancouver is short on skilled forwards (their #2 RW is Wellwood - what does that say?). Put Nikulin on RW with the Sedins, and he may flourish (and it may kick him into gear such that he understands what commitment is required). Mac is a speedy 3rd/4th liner who is willing to do what it takes for the team. Again, on Vancouver, maybe he can play other roles as well, as they don't have much. Maybe we throw in a second as well (2010, not 2009) or toss in Henessy (I just can't see him making it on the Senators, but maybe on a weaker team)

They need to dump defense, and they are looking to move Ohlund, though realistically, they should be moving Salo (but where?). Their only other offer (from what is out there) is for Kessler, which I can't imagine they will entertain, without spare parts or picks in addition to Savard, since it doesn't serve to improve them.

Perhaps your suggestion of Bieksa is better - they get cap room (not needed now, but later).

In my eyes, it improves both teams immediately (although we end up with too many D now) and long-term. Isn't that the goal?

Yeah I'm not sure Vancouver has the right players coming back for Vermette... I sorta agree with Acrobat, as in i'd seriously consider it for Bieksa...

I wouldn't mind parting with Nikulin, Mac and/or Hennesey for Bieksa. We still have a lot of forwards on the depth chart. I am thinking that the premium on PMD's will have them asking for a top six roster player though. Maybe if we wait it out they will take a package of lesser lights?

I very much doubt VAN would settle for anything resembling the above for Bieksa or even Ohlund. It'll take a top-6 roster player for sure. Unless we're willing to deal someone like Vermette, Foligno, or Zubov, I'd say forget about working out a trade with VAN for either D you mention.

Yeah I agree, I just don't like the return... I don't think i'd want to get rid of Vermette or Foligno for either of those guys... Zubov I wouldn't really mind, but I don't think that would land us one of those 2... I just think for Vermette we could get something better... We would probably have to package Vermette with a pick or 2.. but we could definitely get something better IMO

I am of a take it or leave it mind with this. You have to give up something to get something obviously but I would not give up one of our top six for a defenceman that is in the bottom half of their depth chart. Just me maybe. Any of the Russian prospects and or one of the forwards not on the starting roster for game 1, I am okay with. Otherwise keep them and give me a call if you can't move them....

Yeah exactly.. and plus I wouldn't rush to soon because if we wait a little bit some players who are untouchable now, may become available closer to the trade deadline...
