At best people are guessing what he is going to do.

I was kidding. I should have put one of these. Sarcasm

I know, but you still see a bunch of people saying "this guy is a top 6 or top 9 guy for sure"... like they have any clue at all. The only thing people can base their opinions on are The Olympics which was limited to a couple games which they saw.

Wick may very well turn into a top 9 guy but we'll see how he reacts when he takes his first hit from Matt Cooke or Ben Eager or Danial Carcillo. He could fly right back to Europe.

I personally am not buying into the hype and find it almost insulting that it's taking Wick this long to put pen to paper. The guy, like you said, hasn't proven enough for me to think he'll be great or even serviceable.

Yeah, he'll be ready I think though, but you're right, he needs to stay as close to the Ottawa conditioning staff as humanly possible.
does alfie have any spare guest rooms in his place in kanata? Sarcasm

Haha, yeah really. Put Wiericoch and Cowen in there as well - although I guess that wouldn't be 'neat' if they're playing in Bingo and Spokane.

Yes, a prospect that isnt signed playing in The NCAA will surprise. He's not even aloud to attend camp so you might want to change it again.

Exactly. Wick is at best right now an enormous question mark.

Haha lighten up, I was joking. I just looked at our prospects and picked a cool name. I don't even know who he is.

He's got an awesome name. He needs to play for us one day just for his last name alone.

The thing that bothers me - and this applies to Petersson as well - is that you don't just 'arrive' in NA and play in the NHL. I hate that. I'd rather lose a decent prospect than bend to their whims that they deserve a spot. Get bent, come over here and play in Bingo and let us assess you, then you can flee if you think it's not happening.

Peter Regin is the post-child for a guy who crossed the pond, played in the pros, did well, came to camp, excelled even more, made the big team and then stuck in the NHL. Was it easy? No.

Indeed. We could make a list of all the people he's checked into oblivion and call it the Donors list. Laughing3

Maybe not so much in Ottawa, but I have a feeling he will breakout as an AHL star for this season, anyway. Pretty big jump for a Junior A player.

The guy that will probably deserve to make the team but wont is Lehner. There is just no way they allow him to play as the backup at 19 when there is a spot in The AHL for him right now.

Ottawa is very lucky to have the option of leaving Lehner in the AHL. And Lehner is equally lucky to have a chance to dominate at the pro level. He won't stay down as long as Bernier (LAK) did, but look how that turned out. Bernier is one of the hottest goaltending properties not playing in the NHL right now.

I think you can safely say he will be in LA next year.

As for Lehner, he will play a couple games in The NHL next year and probably be on the roster come 11/12. We'll see what Leclaire does next year because if he doesnt become the legit, number 1 guy without question, he will be let go and Elliott and Lehner will takes the reigns. That would be when Lehner goes mental and takes the job.

Yeah, especially when we have two goalies already, one of them in his last season. He'll only be called up if/when there are injuries IMO.

Nice thread. I think Gryba is going to surprise ppl with call-ups. He'll be really poised and confident I think, and deliver some nice open-ice hits that'll have us thinking "anton who?". Thinkin' a bit outside the box, but the obvious choices would be Butler and Weircioch (and they will start in the AHL)
