Easy for a fan to say.

If you're the coach, a player, or Bryan Murray, do you want Spezza and his "90 points". (Hasnt reached that in some time now) Just to be clear, he's hit 90 points twice in 7 years and hasnt been a PPG player in over 2 seasons and that's playing with great wingers for a lot more then 1/2 of that time.

There is no shot in hell 90 points is garenteed, hell, 80 points isnt even garenteed.

Who knows, maybe if we give him two motivated wingers who like to crash the crease, he can flirt with 90+ points again. Or Petersson, I'd like to see his filthy wrister being set up by Spezza.

Thornton is JUST being validated (barely), there's plenty of time for Spezza. Just make sure you surround him with top notch players - like Cullen, Regin, Alfie, Fisher, Michalek. I like it. I vote we keep Spezza. OFFSEASON TALK: Forwards! - Page 7 54934

Thornton has always played with a way more physical edge then Spezza. Fact of the matter is Spezza isnt gritty enough or hard enough to get a team through the playoffs himself. The fact you are saying maybe if The Sens can go out and get moptivated wingers to get Spezza going, that's a HUGE issue. I fail to see how you cant realize that.

Alfi is about as motivated as you can get along with Regin... not sure what else you expect The Sens to do? A 165, 5'9 winger from Sweden to pick up Spezza? Talk about grasping for straws.

This past year was Spezza's year to shut up the critics and he did anything but. He needed to show he can carry this team a little and not depend on others, he didnt.

If you want to make a case for "Jumbo Joe" being better than Spezza you are also grasping at straws.

Im not a Thornton fan and have never pretended to be, but do you really want to get into what Thornton has done vs what Spezza has? Thornton is the better player and always has been.

Thornton has been a HUGE regular season producer and a playoff disappointment, to put it mildly. Spezza has produced in the regular AND post-season.

Post season production? When was the last time he had a good series. If the amount of points that Spezza puts up are people's only arguements here then that's a problem to itself. He put up over a PPG this playoffs and he might have been the snigle worst forward on the top 3 lines.

Thornton has a Hart Trophy, Art Ross, WJC's, a World Cup, an Olympic Gold vs Spezza's ___ ___ ____ (Ill let you fill in the blanks)

Every thread turning into a Spezza trade discussion is getting very tiring.

It's off season talk about the forwards... like it or not, what Murray and The Sens decide to do with Spezza over the next month plus is the biggest decision in franchise history.

Thornton's opportunity to make those teams was a result of his NHL regular season success.

Thornton hasn't put up a PPG for his team in the playoffs and he certainly isn't the best forward on his team right now.

If you want to look to San Jose's current success to criticize Spezza, you'll notice the real difference. San Jose has a legitimate second scoring line. Spezza has NEVER enjoyed that kind of support.

Except this year eh... or Alfi carrying the team in the finals... Spezza had all the support he could get coming from the 2nd line this year and he did absolutely nothing.

Spezza has had the luxury of playing with maybe the two best wingers in the game for a 4 year stretch and people say "he hasnt had the support he needs". That's crap.

I didn't say anything about his wingers? I really don't care if Spezza stays or goes and I agreed with you to an extent until you started saying "Jumbo Joe" is better than Spezza. He just isn't.

To summarize, the Ottawa Senators have a better chance of winning with Spezza and an improved 2nd line than they do of winning without Spezza and the same 2nd line.

I really hope spezza hasn't thrown in the towel. We saw alot of his old self, but alot of a new spezza as well. I'd like to ride it out another year before I decide I want him traded....but I get the no-trade clause too. I'm still 'nay' to trade him. If he's not producing, he's attracting enough of the top defenders that allow others to score instead.

Don't forget that in 2007 he had support and they made it to the Cup Finals.

And we'll do it again. That's the thing, he's very useful to have when young bucks are coming up, he's also very important to have when we actually get more than Karlsson as a puck-mover. It's up for debate if he can lead a team, but he can certainly create space and rack up the points - which really, is (part of) the name of the game.

Yes, that's why he was pretty much a lock for Team Canada and Spezza wasnt even in the conversation.

The Sens will not win a cup with Spezza.

Ok is everyone just ignoring the fact that he could be an issue in the room and could actually hurt the development of young players with a poor attitude and work ethic?

Man, people just dont see beyond the points here do they. I get it because that is basically all Spezza has, a piece of paper with numbers on it.

Spezza BC. (before contract)

Since he signed that deal, he's been at best ok.

Naw, Ill just tell you that you wont win, haha.

If you actually had a chance to ask an NHLer about Spezza you would be fairly shocked at the answer, a lot of the Spezza lovers would.

I already pointed out why he's a lock for Team Canada year after year. I'm not disputing that.

The Sens came a lot closer to winning a cup with Spezza than either Boston or San Jose have with "Jumbo Joe".

If there is legit proof of this, then yes I'd like him outta here. If the coach admits that spezza attempted to play hurt earlier in the season, I don't see how that constitutes a poor attitude and work ethic. If he mailed it in early, then yes. Have any of the players come out and said anything?
