Spezza has had the luxury of playing with maybe the two best wingers in the game for a 4 year stretch and people say "he hasnt had the support he needs". That's crap.

I didn't say anything about his wingers? I really don't care if Spezza stays or goes and I agreed with you to an extent until you started saying "Jumbo Joe" is better than Spezza. He just isn't.

To summarize, the Ottawa Senators have a better chance of winning with Spezza and an improved 2nd line than they do of winning without Spezza and the same 2nd line.

Yes, that's why he was pretty much a lock for Team Canada and Spezza wasnt even in the conversation.

The Sens will not win a cup with Spezza.

Phew. Thanks for telling me that. Now can you give me the lottery numbers for next week? Sarcasm

Naw, Ill just tell you that you wont win, haha.

If you actually had a chance to ask an NHLer about Spezza you would be fairly shocked at the answer, a lot of the Spezza lovers would.

I already pointed out why he's a lock for Team Canada year after year. I'm not disputing that.

The Sens came a lot closer to winning a cup with Spezza than either Boston or San Jose have with "Jumbo Joe".

If he's not producing, he's attracting enough of the top defenders that allow others to score instead.

Ok is everyone just ignoring the fact that he could be an issue in the room and could actually hurt the development of young players with a poor attitude and work ethic?

Man, people just dont see beyond the points here do they. I get it because that is basically all Spezza has, a piece of paper with numbers on it.

If there is legit proof of this, then yes I'd like him outta here. If the coach admits that spezza attempted to play hurt earlier in the season, I don't see how that constitutes a poor attitude and work ethic. If he mailed it in early, then yes. Have any of the players come out and said anything?

Don't forget that in 2007 he had support and they made it to the Cup Finals.

And we'll do it again. That's the thing, he's very useful to have when young bucks are coming up, he's also very important to have when we actually get more than Karlsson as a puck-mover. It's up for debate if he can lead a team, but he can certainly create space and rack up the points - which really, is (part of) the name of the game.

Do you actually believe that?

It's not all about on ice things eh, just so you know. More is done off the ice in terms of team building, developing players, and building a comeptitive team.

If anything, Spezza might hurt the "young bucks" more then help them. If there is a player more consumed with his personal stats then Spezza, dont know who it is. I know that because it came right out of The Sens locker room.

Might want to hold off on saying that for a couple of weeks.

A couple of weeks is still about 2 weeks away, give or take. Right now, the statement is true.

Murray saying that Spezza was hurt by the fans is a pretty good indication that Spezza went into that meeting and said "Bryan, the fans in Ottawa are frigging idiots and I hate this city". That comment alone should be sending off warning bells to the entire fan base,

It took Heatley asking for a trade, Meszaros getting dealy, McGrattan going to rehab, and Emery getting banned to Russia for the "proof" to come out. There wasnt one of those guys I was wrong about 3 or 4 months ahead of time and you can ask SD, Cap'n, or who ever else on this site just how right I was about it all.

Of course I believe it. He took us to the promised land once and he can do it again. The first time, the Sens played a wonderful team game, had an excellent defence and a good goaltending performance. Why can't that happen again but with different guys? Say like...I dunno...Regin, Karlsson, Alfie (he's not dead yet), Michalek, Fisher, Wiercioch, Lehner, Cowen, Kelly, Neil, Z.Smith etc?

Yup it is. Thornton never had close to the support that Spezza has either, in Boston or San Jose. For the longest time he was alone wiht Marleau in SJ and basically given nothing to work with in Boston.

Hey, if you want a great example of an organization giving up on a guy, Boston and Thornton is basically the exact same and Ottawa and Spezza right now.

Fixed.

This isnt The same Sens team and last time I checked when The Sens did that, Oveckin, M.Richards, and Crosby were teenagers, Malkin wasnt in the league, and The East has gotten about 10 times better then it was in 07.

When those guys are ready for a cup run Spezza's contract will be close to up anyways. Weircoich might very well turn into a Duncan Keith but it still took him 6 or 7 years to become the player he is at this moment, wont be any different in Ottawa.

That's fine, just dont say things like "Spezza took The Sens to The Cup Finals" because Alfi carried that team on his back and in The Finals.

Alfie was boss, but don't discount Spezza creating room and making the passes.

Hey, if you wanna talk about Spezza like that you better start pumping Heatley's tires too.

Alfi carried both those guys asses in that cup run and for the next two years after it.
