Not much of a real write up, but you can take a look at the NHL's Central Scouting list and see who is ranked where and then Google them and see what comes up.

http://centralscouting.nhl.com/

Smith-Pelly is actually ranked 76th among NA skaters and J.P. Anderson is 27th among NA goalies.

That's 44th ranked International Skater, and he scored 56 goals and added 47 assists.

I'll say Dalton Smith of the 67's. 6.01 and almost 200 pounds, 44 points in 62 regular season games with 129 PIMs, 6 points in 12 playoff games with 27 PIMs...seems like he's a bruiser!

I really like the thought of Dalton Smith in the 3rd round, but I'm not sure if he slides all the way to us.

Another guy I really like is Yasin Cisse (CSB #107 for NA skaters). He's a huge (6'2 210) RWer who has some scoring potential. He's a guy I assume could be had with a 6th or even 7th rounder who might be worth the risk. He's a very longterm prospect (4-6 years away, imo) but you're not gonna get much better bang for your buck with a late pick.

Also does anyone know anything about Luke Curadi? I doubt it since the guy is slated to be a very late pick, but based on size alone the guy is intriguing (6'5 255...wow)

i know that this is a bit of a stretch but zetterberg 7th round (210th overall) in 1999.
we'd have to get damn lucky to do that but who knows?
why go for bruisers when i think we should go on gambles and pick players that are more offencively gifted but may lack in other areas(making them drop in the standards) if we need 4rth liners or even 3rd liners the AHL is full of them.

I don't disagree with you at all, and that's why I hated the Sdao pick last year. The difference is that Cisse is not a grinder at all. Everytime I've seen him I've come away impressed, and I compare him 'loosely' to corey Cowick but with more upside. Ya he's a big guy, but I see top-nine potential in him which is even more impressive in a guy ranked so low.

Ottawa should be taking some high risk picks late in the rounds now. They have filled their system with role players like Cowick, Costello, Grant, Silfverberg (could be waaaay better then that though), Greening, even O'Brien, they can try and hit that big home run pick with some undersize kid from Sweden or Finland.

No real need to pick D in this draft, the youth will be taking over shortly anyways. Again, take a swing at a high risk forward prospect and see what happens.

A huge high risk pick would be Kabanov.

Here are a few players that jump out based on ranking and stats:

BENNETT, BEAU PENTICTON BCHL

SHUGG, JUSTIN WINDSOR OHL

HISHON, JOEY OWEN SOUND OHL

ROSS, BRADLEY PORTLAND WHL

PEREIRA, MIKE AVON OLD FARMS HIGH-CT

MCKEGG, GREG ERIE OHL

THOMAS, CHRISTIAN OSHAWA OHL (Steve Thomas' son)

I should have qualified it by saying stay the hell away from Russians.

Even in the 1st round, Murray has the ability to take a real shot on a risky player and hope The Sens turn him into a star. Tons of time to develope him with the right team in Bingo, doesnt matter who it is. Im not advocating picking a guy like McFarland because like ASQ said, he's a Spezza clone, but he can defently be developed over time and perhaps develope an edge that he never thought he had. Just an example. Even Skinner, let him grow a bit and fill out his frame, he could come in behind Spezza in 3 years and put up points right off the bat.

I'll say the Finnish goalie who played in the U18, don't remember his name. 4th or 5th round should stillb e there.

I would say McFarland is the anti-Spezza TBH. Average during the season, awesome during tournaments.

I dunno, just the lack of heart bugs me or the appearance of it. Tallented as hell though.
