SunGarrioch: The reason Pascal Leclaire is starting: He will be the No. 1 next year. The team has sent a message to Brian Elliott.

Doesn't surprise me. They didn't trade for Leclaire to sit him on the bench and play him 20 games a year while a kid who's struggled badly in the playoffs takes the reins.
Besides, if you look at their top seasons, Leclaire's potential far outweighs Elliott's. It's just through sheer bad luck, much like most of this year has been for the team generally, that he isn't the starter.

Meh, you wont hear a lick from me because I would have given up all hope for the next 5 years if he's actually still here.

Wont be paying for a single game either. Anyone who says there is someone there to take your spot, nope, there isnt.

Oh yeah Leclaire's potential smokes Elliott, just need to stay healthy and reach it before Lehner starts usurping him PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Game 5: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (3) - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Apr. 22nd, 2010 - Page 21 85287

That would be bad news, bad, bad news.

Thats just a bold prediction founded on nothing.

Depending on howLeclaire does for the rest ofthe playoffs, Iwould say it's Elliotts to lose, but at the very least it's a 4 horse race between Leclaire, Lehner, Brodeur and Elliott.

Despite the fact that he's enormously fat and can't spell or write worth dick most days, he's still got a lot of connections and knows a lot of people. He's probably right on this.

I don't think Clouston is one to lay the blame on any one individual but it's pretty telling when a coach says that team hasn't gotten the saves it needs and that the goaltending has been below average so far.

Can we give him his own Spezza thread? Then he has a place to vent at will, and thenanyone that wants to engage inthe Spezza defense can step in at free will PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Game 5: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (3) - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Apr. 22nd, 2010 - Page 21 85287

I have no doubt in my mind that Leclaire will start the season opener next season.

There already is one in the Sens area. I'm 99% sure of it.

It's not even like we're defending Spezza. But it's just when he goes over the top with outlandish comments like "we'd be lucky to get a mid round pick and mid tier prospect for Spezza" that piss me off.

Yeah but you hear that out coaches surprisingly often. Alain Vin...whatever basically said that about Luongo 2-3 days ago PLAYOFF GAME DAY: Game 5: Ottawa Senators (1) @ Pittsburgh Penguins (3) - 7:00pm ET - Thu. Apr. 22nd, 2010 - Page 21 85287

But why? Elliott was amazing in the 2nd half of the season, I can't understand why we'd do that. Surely we aren't that dumb.

A realistic trade for Spezza would probably be Little, Klinenberg, and NJ's 1st from Atlanta. That's about as good as it would get.

I'm not saying he deserves it, I just know how it will go down. The guy who makes the most money, on the Sens this is Leclaire, will get every chance to right the ship.

At the end of the day, a GM always gives his most payed players more chances than the other guys.

I'm hoping he won't be here next season personally.

Maybe he will, maybe he wont. Maybe he gets hurt again. Im in agreement that I think he MIGHT start next season as the starter but to say you have no doubt... there should be a ton in everyones mind.

Tough call if your Murray, I still havesome faith in Spezza but Little is NHL ready and atleast 2nd line caliber, can Klingberg has progressreal nice, and that 1st puts us in Mcfarland/Pulkkinen territory (and yes I realize the mass doubt surrounding Pulkkinen and Johnny)

Not necessarly a bad trade.....per say
