Once again, like I said, Luongo is anything but great. He is supposed to be doing what Halak, Rask, Anderson, or who ever else is doing right now. This is the guy that some people call the primier goaltender in The NHL, not even close.

Like I said not even top 5 and honestly, after watching his last 2 seasons in the playoffs, not even top 10 at this point.

While the Canucks are losing as a team, Luongo isn't helping their cause.

He isn't making the game-changing saves and is regressing every game. Chicago has his number.

And now the forwards are getting too frustrated and it's costing them. I didn't think Vancouver had the stuff to beat the Hawks, and I'm very glad to see the Hawks winning. All Playoff talk all the time. - Page 65 85287

I'm hoping to see a Hawks vs. Bruins/Montreal final.

Luongo always does this, going gets tough, he's no where to be found.

This is a guy the committed 6 million plus a year to for 12 years and he cant get past the 2nd round. Not only that he gets lit up in the second round every year. He isnt a franchise goaltender, he's a guy that gets way too much credit for no real results at all.

Like I said, Ill take Elliott at 800K with his improvements and short term contract over Luogno at 6 mil plus for 12 years.

Look at Neimi going after the puck and trying to cover it, that is fighting through it! Getting out top of the crease, battling, and showing up Luongo.

Imagine if this was going on in Ottawa, haha. People would be alllll over the goaltending.

15 goals in 4 games... that's BRUTAL. 11 in 2 home games.

Luongo just doesn't seem to understand how to deal with crowds since moving to Vancouver.

In Florida he was a monster, a legit all-world goalie, but since he left, he's been shaky and inconsistent when the team really needs him.

He really just lacks the 'big-game' mentality it seems.

Easy to look good with no pressure, no fans, no chance of winning, and when no one really cares.

Luongo isnt a big game goaltender, it's that simple. I would take Lundqvist, Miller, Ward, Flurry (and I think he is over rated too), Rask, Kipper, and a few others way before Luongo. If there is more of a small time goaltender then Luongo, no clue who it is. Hell, the guy got pulled more than anyone in The NHL this year and people still say this guy is all world.

Hopefully this series and the last one vs The Hawks just goes to show just how over rated this guy truly is. Truth be told, he wasnt all that great against The Kings either. He was just good enough to beat a playoff rookie in Glass.

Who's Glass? or do you mean Quick?

I wouldn't take Fluery over Luongo but yeah the rest for sure, man is Rask challenged good.

Miller, Rask, Lundy, Ward, Halak in that order if I was hand picking a goalie.

Bryz, Kippers, Fluery, Backstrom are star goalies, but are very inconsistent at times.

Meh, Kipper is a top 5 guy, he was fantastic all year.

Yeah, Quick, not sure why I was thinking Glass...

Well that series is over... at least Detroit has somewhat of a shot compared to Vancouver.

Luongo's been awful. The team is scoring goals, the problem is stopping them. The series is over, and Canada's hopes now lie with one team.

Brutal quote from Lou last night "Right now, I don't exactly know what we're doing."

Luongo is about as much as a leader as Spezza, Seriously, if there were two more alike players in their approach to their game and the fact their entire teams are based around them, I dont know who they are.

Frig, I give Spezza the edge over Luongo because at least Spezza owns somethings and the team doesnt have to rely on him by himself to win games.

Vancouver is in trouble with Luongo, he is an average starting goaltender in The NHL.

He's right, his team is not playing well at all, they have no defence right now and they are taking stupid penalties every two minutes.

We should have a poll on this site, because I really don't see anybody else here calling him an average goalie and not a franchise goalie. If we had him in the Cup Finals against Anaheim, we win. Not that your completely wrong in calling him a bit overrated, but to he is still a franchise goalie. I don't see the Canucks making the playoffs with Raycroft as their starting goalie.

Plus, he is a leader, he is well-known for it. Mark Messier even gave him the Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2007. He also has:

2 World Championship Golds
1 World Cup
1 Memorial Cup appearance
1 Olympic Gold
1 Vezina nominee
1 Lester B. Pearson nominee (from the players)
4 All-Star games
51 shutouts
career .918 sv %

Also, his stats are actually better in the postseason. You can fault him for not making some saves here and there, but his team in fron of him lets him down.

He may not be the best goalie right now, but he is still a top goaltender in this league. Just take away the captaincy to stop putting the blame always on him.

If somehow he's on the trading block, there will be dozens of teams at Gillis' door.

EDIT: This doesn't mean I think he's been playing up to his ability in this series, Niemi has been better. Luongo needs to play like he did in game 1.

just like last year when he needs to make a save he doesnt he lets the hawks get in his head and throw him off his game. he was lucky he didnt cost us the game against the slovaks with late weak goals let alone the late weak goal against the us that forced canada to overtime defense can only do so much but when the a horrific goal is let in it leads the defense and the team to try and do too much because they dont have the faith in the goalie
