Tough break, oh well. NHL is a better place without this clown anyways.

Yeah. Poor Emery. He's only got his buy-out and what's left of this contract to scrape by in life. Oh the horror. Laughing3

You guys are just so full of compassion that it's scary. Just promise me you won't get an ulcer worrying about these players.

I'm not on the eat dung and die train but I'm sure financially he should be fine. As far as his career being in jeopardy I do have some compassion in that regard. I don't wish that on him regardless of how immature (drugged up or not) and stupid he was or still is now.

Hell no, we have some members here who have disclosed/divulged/confessed questionable (both in the legal and moral senses) behavior, and who flaunt their immaturity with nearly every post. Yet I do have compassion and would never dream of wishing any harm to them.

(yeah, I did think of putting someone's name in in strike-through letters, but I didn't want to either single him out or leave all others resentful for being excluded)

You don't even really need to name names do you? Emery suffering from avascular necrosis - Page 3 270956

Personally I am indifferent to this. While I don't wish harm on Emery (just like I didn't actually want Heatley to die after his trade demand), I'm not cheering for him to have any success. He'll be fine financially if he's been smart with his earnings I'm sure, but even still, I won't shed a tear if he ends up working at Wendy's flipping burgers down the line. Still, it sucks to see someone lose their chosen profession for any reason other than blantant stupidity.

I bet you he wont be. He has blown a ton of money and dont forget, 1/2 of his salary goes to taxes. He will need to either find a place on a roster either in The NHL, Europe, or where ever because he is defently one guy that will be looking for a job after hockey. He will be a college or university student before long if his career is indeed over.

Hey, I never said I wish him harm, am happy this actually happend, or wanted this to happen to the guy. Wishing ill will on people is pointless and gutless. I defently never said he Dung and die either, haha.

Point being is this happend to someone who probably had it coming for a lot of things in the past. Sucks for sure but no one should feel sorry for him. The guy is a douche bag through and through.

No one wishes any ill will on Heatley or Emery, but the fact that Emery is close to being done doesn't make me sad at all. Better him than say...Toews or Sharp or one of the talented, hard-working good guys of the league.

Oh, Emery doesnt deserve anyones sympathy. Fact of the matter is he is an idiot off the ice (still) he wasted his tallent, he's not a good person, and is basically a guy you dont want representing your team unless you are actually The Flyers.

He would be 100% secure in where he stands both on the ice and off the ice if he was a total moron for about 5 years. Not having a long term contract his on him and no one else.

I'm still 100% blown away that the bleeding hearts are fawning over Ray to get better. Do people realize he took us for almost 10 million dollars. We farmed him, helped him, taught him, made him family and he turned into the laziest arsehole in the NHL. So what did we do? We paid him to stay the hell away from our team - and yet people argue that he deserved a 2nd chance and that it's a crying shame that he's injured long term.

That train of thought is ludicrous. Injuries happen to good people/players all the time - this is not a good person. This is a cheater who cheated us out of a starting goalie and 6 million dollars. He's poison.

Ya, I am kind of shocked people feel sorry for this guy as well. Hell, I was called a liar and was just someone making things up about him, McGratton, Spezza, Meszaors, Shubert, Heatley... hmmm, only of of those guys left eh? Emery was the worst out of that entire group. Would anyone feel bad if this happend to T. Owens? Doubtful.

This is a guy who is still getting paid by The Sens (thank God for that because he is going to need it to pay off somethings and live the life style he is acustomed to), spit in the collective faces of the fans, team, and city, and actually doesnt give a damn about it.

This guy is a terrible team mate on the ice and is an absolute douche bag off of it. People fall in love with players in Ottawa faaaaar too easily and for no other reason other then great memories of something that was pretty close to a mirage to begin with.

I never named names, Neely. I just said "you guys", which covers about 99.87% of this site's member list. Hell, I say "you guys" when talking to my kids, and I've got two of each, so there.

I did mean it about not getting an ulcer. I care for your health.

This is still a person who may lose what they've "worked" (yes, i use that loosely) their entire lives to achieve.

and he didn't cheat us out of anything. Maybe Melnyk could feel cheated, but we have no reason to.

He has himself to blame. If he truly worked for things he would have something to fall back on and I garentee with his reputation no one will take a chance on a goaltender with an injury like that.

Didnt cheat me or the fans? If you paid for a game in 07/08 ( I had season tickets) you were cheated. You paid for his salary. Melnyk's money comes from the fans, city, and sponsors.

Personally I think the situation was mishandled by the coaching staff and GM from start to finish. Clearly, Emery is responsible for his actions, as is the GM, for handing him that contract and either not anticipating issues, or not following up when they arose. There was ample evidence for a long period of time. Maybe Paddock tried to cover it up (he certainly did for the media; not sure about Murray). Whatever the case, if he was handled better it would have never gone as far. And I still think that, after everything had come to a head, waiving him was not the best solution. Like I said, he was still salvageable (as evidenced by his year in the KHL and at least his start with the Flyers). He could have worked his way back to respectability with the Sens, then traded toward the end of his second year on that contract.

Emery off the ice was/is/will be a mess. I dont think you appriciate just how bad things were with him and McGratton. Not to mention the fact there are certain guys in Ottawa that dont like Emery for reasons other then hockey. Put it this way, he wasnt coming back to The East end of Ottawa any time soon after being bought out.

As always, an excellent point. I have no idea what the heck Murray was doing. If I was the GM, Emery would have been on the first bus down to Bingo. Don't want to rehab your wrist, huh? Then off you go, enjoy life in the minors. Maybe I'll buy you out in the summer (which happened anyway), but until you start posting ridiculous numbers in the AHL your days as a goalie in Ottawa are OVER.

Elliott, good news, you're coming up as back up to Gerbage. Come on up now, congratulations, I don't need to tell you to work hard because you always have, but here's your chance to get some NHL action - granted, sooner than we would have liked, but it's over to you now.
