If you have a big losing streak, the best cure is to play the Oilers! It really doesn't matter which goalie we play, but Leclaire deserved this one. Ah well...
Ya? The Devils disagree.
Also, why would you start Leclaire when it is Elliott who carried the load when it mattered? Lacking a little common sense there arnt we?
I agree with you. My personal favourite of the two goalies is Elliott for sure. I just don't get how your 3.8 million dollar goalie doesn't get the start when he finally started to look good.
Elliott is the guy that has the teams confidence, you have to roll with him. I love Elliott because he came up in the system and is a proven winner based on everywhere he has played, but I think Leclaire is the most tallented of the two. Sometimes tallent isnt enough and different tangibles take over, Elliott has a lot of those.
3.8 mil at this point is irrelivant.
It is to me too, but I find it hard to believe that it's irrelevant to the organization. If they have any hope of dealing him in the event that Elliott becomes the #1 goalie, I would have to think they would want Leclaire to show that he has value to a prospective trade destination.
There is absolutely no rush to deal Leclaire though, he has one year left on his contract and as of right now he is one of the best backups in The NHL, its not a bad situation having two guys who can do the job.
If at camp next year the cap is a problem, then you look at it, until then he is just an over paid goaltender with the potential to be a legit number 1 guy.
The ability to deal Leclaire is overshadowed by the stretch run, the playoffs, and the teams success right now.
