I think the record for any nation is 13 in the Winter Olympics. Can we match that????

We have the talent to do it in the remaining events, so you never know I guess.

Mens Curling, Womens Curling, Mens Hockey, Womens Hockey, + 5 random speed skating events.

I'm not sure which speed skating we're favoured for, but I think it would be tough to get to 13 would be though. Maybe something like 11 ould be more realistic (although possibly far fetched depending on speed skating)

Not a guarantee yet in men's hockey. We have to win one of the remaining two games to win a medal.

Kipper with the shutout, the Czechs are done.

They never should have broken up. I miss Czechoslovakia as a hockey power.

If JJA can win gold along with the Curling teams and Hockey teams we might have a chance at creating history! It will be very tough though. That's not even counting the multiple (5) speed skating events or the mens aerials.

I know we won't win them all, but 6 would be nice, lol.

The defending hockey Gold medalists are done Ohnoes!
Halak doing what he has done in MTL all year. Can't believe this guy hasn't been locked up yet. Alfie was clutch again, but they couldn't beat the got goalie.

Holy crap! I just could not stay up to watch it. Saw about half of the first period before I realized I was already sleeping Smile

Wow! Lundqvist gave up 4 goals on 14 shots? Unheard of! 14 shots taken in an elimination game? Unbelievable.

But, good news is that A-Train, Alfie, Kuba and Michalek did not get injured and will have a few extra days rest. And probably be playing with a chip on their shoulder the rest of the way.

This is the problem with people declaring this Olympics a failure when we were only half way through. 4 medals last night and we're tied for most gold medals this year. How can that be looked at as failure right? So we aren't going to hit 30 medals but we actually have a real shot at 20 with a really good chance at most gold medals in 2010 and maybe even tie the all time record.

Realistically we certainly have a good chance at gold in curling (x2) and hockey (x2) and, I hear, snowboarding. In men's aerials, if Shouldice and/or Nissen had gotten the same score on their second jump as on the first, they'd be leading after the preliminaries. It's a clean slate now, so could we capture the gold? Definitely not out of the question.

In figure skating, I think Rochette is too far back (7+ points). She's certainly a medal contender and it would be a heck of a commemorative for her mother. I'm not holding out much hope, but who knows.

In men's short-track 500 Tremblay and Hamelin are 1-2 in heading into the quarter finals. Tremblay set a new Olympic Record. There's a very good chance there for a gold.

In ladies' 1000 speed skating two of them finished 1st in their qualifying heats and the third one finished 2nd. They twop-two are about a half second off the fastest qualifying times, but you tend to skate to the level of the competition in the heat, so as to not kill yourself before you get to the quarters. So, another potential.

And in the men's 5000 m relay we stand second after the qualifying heats, just .09s behind the Chinese. They were both in the same qualifying heat, so they were pushing each other, but the qualifiers were over a week ago, so I think they would have recovered by now. Anyhow, another possibility here.

Then there's men's and women's team pursuit -- no idea about those, but we're doing well in speedskating, sp who knows.

I hold no hope at all for any alpine events.

So, adding it all up, there is a legitimate shot at getting 6 more gold to tie the record, and if all the stars align we could break (if not shatter) it.
