Anyone watching the German/Sweden game? I notice Shubert isnt on the German team, any reason for it?

That has to be a heartbreaker....not being good enought to make team Germany....even Marcel Goc made it (I think )

So Sweden "beats" Germany 2-0? Did the Germans suddenly get this good or are the Swedes pulling a "Canada", or are they in a lot of trouble against stronger competition?

Or it's their first game and they'll get better. Still too early IMO.

That was my initial reaction as well. But, I think a lot of these second tier teams have improved since the last Olympics.

Teams like Latvia, Switzerland, Norway, Germany, etc. have improved their team play in my estimation and only lack the high end skill players that make teams like Russia and Canada so dangerous.

The Swiss and Germans especially have really made positive strides. More and more NHLers are starting to fill up their rosters.

Pulling a "Canada" circa 2006? If so Canada lost 2-0 to the Swiss so Sweden would have needed the score to be in reverse for them to pull a Canada no?

Pulling a "Canada" circa 2010? If so Sweden came up short by 6 goals.

I watched the game and Sweden looked very good. Once again, Alfie's line was the best. Granted he plays with a top 5 centre in the game but Forsberg and Zetterberg were deadly and Alfie's line was still better.
As for the Germans, they are clearly the best non-contending team. Played with structure and discipline, toughness and in your face. It looked like a Clouston type of coaching.
