She was the favorite to win the event. She's from Cypress, she's been leading the world cup standings all year, and it's her home course. She better have won gold.

This is the attitude that Canadians and their athletes need to have though, instead of the "aww shucks, I tried hard" of the past.

Having said that, anything can happen in a single race format.

CONGRATS TO MAELLE RICKER!

It's on ctv as far as I know. It's a late start so there won't be many (if any) events on at that time.

Speaking of Russia, they have *one* medal so far. A bronze in speed skating. What's up with that?

The collapse of the Union or the advancement in anti-doping?

I never thought I'd say this, but the Russia-Latvia game has been outstanding to watch.

I never thought I'd say this, but Russia's goaltending is keeping them in this game.

This is some brutal Diddling officiating. How could you call that a hooking against Latvia? That's called a stick lift you stupid Diddle.

Germany's taken the lead with 9, so there goes your second theory.

The Germans have had a lot of "their" events come up already, namely luge and biathlon where they dominated that Dung.

Canada has a lot of opportunities still coming up, so we'll see where the standings end up in the next couple of days.

Ha, sounds like I wasn't the only one to stay up and watch all three games.

Obviously TC and TR will improve mightily with more practice time, but I'm still not convinced this is a two-team tournament. The Czechs, for example, have a leg-up in the chemistry department by nature of their consistency in development, and have maybe the best goalie in the world right now in Tomas Vokoun. The Swedes aren't shabby either with Lundqvist between the pipes and actually have a pretty scary roster, especially with the inclusion of Johan Franzen.

By the way, in today's Women's hockey, look out for Tobias Enstrom's younger sister Tina on the Swedish Olympic team.

I don't follow Women's hockey too closely so I'm intrigued a little. I always thought this was a two horse race between the US and Canada. Do the Swedes have a legitimate shot at making it to the gold medal game?
