It really does come down to performance on the ice and it lags behind by a year. Perform well one year the next year you see results at the box office. That is a poor business plan. They need to do a better job marketing the team and getting the arena filled regardless of success on the ice because if not it will be more of the same next season with perhaps a slight improvement due to slashing of ticket prices in some areas up to 33%, free parking, and possibly playoffs.

If the team (well, Melnyk) puts money into making the experience better for fans in attendance it should help. I mean, it's not a huge thing, but at least it shows he wants to improve the team regardless of attendance.

If they lowered prices slightly, you could see an increase in attendance. I mean, you'd think selling more tickets at a discounted price is better than selling fewer tickets at a higher price?

Anyways, I'm doing my part. I've been to 3 games I think so far, and I live in Brampton. I usually try to take in a game whenever I am in town. Will be going to the Colorado game next week.

Melnyk spends to the cap though and he spent 5 million on Kovalev to try to make the team even more exciting and offset the Heatley loss.

YEah exactly. All those problems were already there in 05-06-07, and but because we were contending, there were sellouts every night.

I never went to a game during those years, and this year alone I went to 2 already, and I have 2 more tickets before february, because now I have a job. Don't care if we lose or not to be honest, but that's probably the difference between a casual fan and a hardcore posting on GMH all day What the hell are we gonna do about the attendance drop - Page 2 270956

If only more fans respected a hard working effort like we do, huh? such a shame...this team is enjoyable to watch grow.

Definitely. But the casual fan will watch the team 'grow' on TV I imagine.

This is also as bad as it will get for the Sens and attendance. It has been a perfect storm of distractions around this team. As long as they continue to play competitive hockey through the season, the fans will show.

Work and a 1 yr. old prevents me from just going at the last minute to games as well.

As for the actual title of this thread - should we all go to a game?

well for me i can deffinetely say the squedual has affected my ticket buying. i used to buy 4 tickets for a game before X-mass so i could take my folks. there's none this year What the hell are we gonna do about the attendance drop - Page 2 521674 .
i drove down from montreal, for a jersey game but if they made deals available more then a few days ahead of time i could plan to come down more. i'm left with fighting habs fans for ticket in MTL(ha! gonna go see the habs lose on the 16th of jan). so if they want to sell more yes, make those late minute deals available ahead of time. they'll get my buck for sure.

I'd be up for that as well.

I live in Toronto, and continue to buy Flex-40s each season. I know that for the most part i can get the games i want to see, and i know enough people in Ottawa, and on the interweb (like you fine folks) that my tickets never go unused. I don;t care about making my money back as much as someone actually being in the seats cheering this team on (hopefully with as much vigour as myself).

I'm sure Balsillie and his "cast of characters" are monitoring this closely.

Don't worry I'm sure Bettman and the gang will come out with a statement about how they are looking at Canada and one day possibly in the future they might consider having a franchise in places like Southern Ontario perhaps maybe through expansion.

Remember when branded lotteries were out of the question to help canadian teams because Bettman didn't want to be associated with gambling?

How come it was OK for the Penguins to have a rink funded by a casino? What the hell are we gonna do about the attendance drop - Page 2 270956

Seriously, this will all blow over. Good work by the $hitizen, as usual.
