Kaleta's head never hit the glass. At least not on the replay.

you do know he kills penalties, right?
Yes, but after taking a few boneheaded ones in a very tight game... I question that...

Ruutu's hit was not dirty in the least. That's how I saw it. Am I wrong?
I'd say it was a bit of a cheap shot, but certainly not worthy of a 5-min trip to the sin bin. Boarding for sure. It looks like Kaleta's head did hit the glass and that's what had the most impact.

I have no problem with the call at all... and I HATE Kaleta (but love Ruutu). It was not like Ruutu missed his shoulder, he was clearly headhunting. I would not mind seeing this call more consistently. If Kaleta doesn't have a concussion, I would be surprised.

I think 5 minutes was a little harsh on the Ruutu penalty but what really annoyed me was the number of missed calls right in front of officials. I get they're going to miss stuff but when it's right in front of their face and it's an easy objective call like high sticking it drives me nuts.

The officials missed calls both ways, and there were some phantom calls. I stick by my opinion that anyone else on the Sens gets a 2 minute minor, but Ruttu has earned his rep and he will never again get the benefit of the doubt.

If Kaleta hit Ruutu in the same manner and knocked him out of the game, I would think a 5 minute penalty would be in order. It was dirty, borderline but dirty. You can't suggest that Ruutu wasn't going for the melon. It was pretty clear.

Fantastic job by the boys last night. I'm very pleased with their effort. Elliott was as good as he needed to be and made some pretty big saves to keep us right in it. Kudos to him and his 2nd shutout of the season and 3rd of his career. Pretty impressive. He's had 2 shutouts in his past 4 games now if I'm not mistaken.

Winchester fit like a glove with Alfie and Michalek, what a tough line that is. Alfie had an amazing game, he was buzzing right from the get go. Kelly had a very strong game too. All the boys played really well, I don't think I can say anything bad about anyone, nor is it necessary to.

Ruutu had a very strong game, that's one guy that I don't think gets enough credit for what he brings to the team. He's a very smart, effective all around hockey player. We're lucky to have him here. That penalty called against him was Dung.

Karlsson is unbelievable. That guy can see a play develop before it happens, wow, I'm very grateful that we'll get to see him develop into one of the best all around defensemen in the league. I love that kid. Now, if he could put on about 15 pounds of muscle we're golden.

Miller is not human, he's absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe how good he was. I'm very happy that we could find a few holes in him last night because they were non-existent all night. Thank goodness for the beautiful screen by Cheech on the first one. He had zero chance of stopping that one.

Great job boys, keep it up!

I only saw the hit from one angle. It almost looked like a fly-by to me. I don't get how it turned out so bad. GAME DAY: Buffalo Sabres @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Wed. Dec. 16th, 2009 - Sens win 2-0! - Page 16 105237

Kovalev can leave the team now though, I've had just about enough of him. That guy takes the longest shifts I have ever seen and just stands there or floats around waiting for a pass. That hat trick was a fluke, he won't score again for another 19 games probably. That guy is brutal.

No way that should have been a penalty. I saw it live and saw the replay on the board as well, total Dung. He hit him on the side not square in the numbers, not even close. Kaleta is a diving fairy punk, I think Ruff told him to not come back. If he's hurt, it's his own fault for trying to dive and hurting himself. He flipped his head backwards. There was no dirty anything on that hit. No shoulder, no elbow nothing. Totally clean. Hence, the even up call not long into the penalty. Now, that also wasn't a penalty but they had to call something.

It was because it came from behind so Kaleta was not expecting it and his head ricochet'd off the glass. If it had happened in open ice he would not have left the game.

What was dirty? How was it dirty? I don't understand. Did we see the same hit? There's no chance I would call it a 5 minute penalty even if it did happen to Ruutu. I wouldn't call anything. Too bad the guy got hurt on a clean check. Boo hoo.

There did seem to be some embellishing... so who knows... I doubt we'll see anything more come of this.

That was my guess too based on what I thought about the hit.

I think the policy on the morning show is "If you can only say good things about Brian Elliott, say nothing at all."

Winchester delivered the goods last night. Looks good on Driftwood, Sweaterman and Garrioch. Diddling jerks.
