Sopel to Toronto for picks? Hmmm....what kind of pick? A 3rd? A 2nd?

How is he an upgrade if Picard plays 5-on-5 and has similar production this year for a fraction of the price?
Because Barker's better all-around - although, perhaps not by as much as three times like his salary would dictate.
When you look at him all around, he's better.SeawaySensFan wrote:SpezDispenser wrote:SeawaySensFan wrote:

How is he better all around? That's what I'm curious to find out.

Best argument I've seen so far.

Not this year anyway..I don't believe they have their 2nd or 3rd this year...wasn't that all part of the Kessel trade, or atleast the 2nd was...
Yeah, that's the latest train of thought... a 2nd rounder seems to be the buzz... although Millard was talking about Sopel and a 1st rounder on HC @ Noon today - he's on crack if he thinks Bowman will give up a 1st rounder to do that.SpezDispenser wrote:Devo wrote:SpezDispenser wrote:Sopel to Toronto for picks? No, Chicago would pay Toronto with a pick to take him.

A 2nd rounder...holy cow. May I be so bold as to ask why they don't just waive him? I know it's better to try to find a home for him, but that's too stiff a price IMO.
People who think they'll give us Barker for two fringe NHLers and a pick may need to re-think things. Why would Chicago bother unloading anyone when they can just waive Sopel and clear 2+ million going forward?
I would never give up my depth if I didn't have to.

Barker has tickled 50 points as an NHL D-man, Picard has not.
50 points SSF - that's...more than we've had since, what, Redden when he was good?
EDIT: It's 40 points he got - why did I think he got 50. Extrapolated perhaps? Yeah, maybe, he got those points in 68 games.
