It doesnt count because he is a european import thus he doesnt have the ability to go to Jr, so after 10 games and being sent down to the AHL it will not count against his ELC.

Only if you are Jr eligable.
Let me clarify what I meant... I don't think Jr. eligibility has anything to do with it, only age at signing of the first SPC. If the player was age 18 or 19 at signing of their first SPC, the ELC years can slide depending on how many NHL games they play as outlined inthe CBA Section 9.1. If the player is age 20 or 21, then their ELC is for three years and there is no option for it to slide. If the player is 22 or 23, their ELC is for 2 years with no option to slide. If the player is 24 years old, their ELC is for 1 year with no option to slide. If the player is 25 and older, they are not subject to ELC restrictions at signing.M_Christopher wrote:N4L wrote:shabbs wrote:Repeat after me: ONLY NHL games count towards when a ELC will slide. And you don't turn 20 before December 31 of that year.

Interesting. I wonder if wouldn't have been better for Karlsson to be sent back to Sweden or St. Mikes. John "The Know-It-All-Windbag" Rotenberg seems to think that going to Bingo will affect his UFA status down the road.
Does anyone know this for sure?
According to the CBA, "NHL Games" means regular season and playoff games. So, playoff games would count. This is listed in Article 1.wprager wrote:I was also asking about playoff games. Does anyone know for sure if a playoff game will count toward his 10 games?
