I don't want to see Cowen and Karlsson as a pairing for quite a while. Firstly, I feel like both should have veterans or at least more experienced players to help them out. Second, I want to give Cowen every chance in the world to develop his offensive game at the NHL level before forcing him to defer to Karlsson.

Rather have those two together then Karlsson/Campoli.

Also, I dont see Carkner or Lee playing their off-side. Our D next year will probably look pretty close to the same thing, just put in Cowen for Picard and assuming Kuba is here, with Karlsson.

A Train/Phillips
Kuba/Karlsson
Cowen/Carkner (or Lee)

Depends what happens honestly but you can re-up Carkner real cheap. I think next year Lee will be 100% ready for a full time role in Ottawa, but where does he fit? Maybe A Train is on his way out no matter what...

I think the way to go is keeping two vets in Kuba and Phillips with Lee, Karlsson, and Cowen and just go through the growing pains like that.

I'd rather have Karlsson and Lee over Karlsson and Campoli ... even if they both play the right side at the same time. Heck, I'd take Karlsson playing by himself (torpedo-style setup). Campoli really, really hasn't done anything to change my opinion of him.

Playing with fire putting a rookie on his off-side, big time. Phillips sturggles with it and there are very few D men in The NHL who play their off-sides well... Wouldnt do that because one of those guys will get burned and turned around big when a speedier player goes to the outside. Niether of those guys are going to cream guys cutting through the middle (A Train playing his off side is a huge reason he lays people out cutting through the middle)

I was only being sarcastic. Just trying to show how much I'm unimpressed with Campoli's play. He should be thanking his lucky stars to get this opportunity and be working his tail off to keep it. Instead, it's as if he thinks he won the roster spot over Lee . Someone should have a talk with him and make sure he understands how two-way contracts work and where the cap and payroll are with respect to one another.

Yeah, tonight might be the biggest game of Campoli's young NHL career. Suck and you're in trouble, get back to the aggressive rushes up ice and the cannon shots and you'll be on the right path.

Today Clouston said that Kuba will skate tomorrow or the day after.

If all goes well, he'll be back next week against the Predators (Thursday).

So at least 2 more games without him.

That absolutely sucks. Do we know if it's the groin? He wasn't training with Greco, was he?

I've not mentioned it yet, but I'm pretty sure thats the reason why Karlsson is paired with Campoli...so he can work out his defensive game from jump.

He's just not that good. I've been saying that since last season when he was on pace for a 40 point season in his time here. That was an anomaly. He is a stop-gap solution that can't handle the pressure. He does not have the mental fortitude to become the player you all hoped he would. I really don't think its about effort at all with him. He's not a defenseman-Spezza...he just isn't that good.

From NHL_Sens Twitter today:

"Kuba skated on his own in Ottawa this morning. Clouston was not sure if Winchester did -- he had a rehab set-back."

Rehab set back? What?

I cannot say this any clearer: Campoli was a stop-gap solution.

His presence was 100% intended to provide an insurance plan, should Karlsson have not been ready to go this season. You can almost consider it to be an effort to forecast Karlsson's initial impact.

There are Campoli's all over the NHL...he is not an asset worth worrying about. Thankfully, he is an unproven commodity (rather than proven to be fruitless) so we should still be able to find some form of compensation for him from another team.

Campoli + Zubov for an equally bust-likely prospect + a 2nd. Regin and Winch practicing... still no Kuba - Page 5 42360

Giving up a first for him, isn't looking like such a Dung-hot idea now is it? Sad

Hey, some of the avatars are back, just noticed that. Hemlock still doesn't have one, and looking up I see beerandsens is missing as well.

I can't see any on this work computer (which already blocks some of the functionality on this site). For some reason I can see Gohan's avatar. Then Shabbs has nothing, but not even the broken link "X" while everyone else has the X.

According to the Sens twitter:

Kuba and Winchester are not practicing, but both skated prior to practice.

So far it doesn't look good for Kuba returning on Thursday.

Lines at practice today:
Kovalev-Fisher-Alfredsson;
Michalek-Spezza-Cheechoo;
Foligno-Regin-Neil;
Ruutu-Kelly-Shannon-Donovan.
