Not sure why no one else has posted this, but it's a pretty smart, albeit obvious, move by the Habs.

I'm a little shocked they would make such a hand in glove signing. Kinda sucks. MA Bergeron to the Habs 668437

It's not a done deal yet... I believe they are still negotiating. The article says MA has contacted the Habs to offer his services.

I'm sure it will happen soon though. They need someone.

If it happens they could ice an entire line with noone over 6 feet... and in reality (not the falsified site exagerations) an entire line 5'10" and under....

One-year, $750,000 contract. Great deal.

He has to be paired with a defensive rock though, like Gil or Spacek.

The kind of player every team needs but no team wants.

Bergeron's a power play specialist...interim solution for Montreal at an affordable price and term.

Factoid about Bergeron from ESPN's Pierre Lebrun:
The 28-year-old, somewhat quietly, has compiled 52 goals over the four post-lockout seasons, that's eight more than Markov's 44. He had 14 last season for the Wild, and he will help Montreal's power play.
