I'm just curious what your thoughts are on this season. I personally can't get too excited because even if everything goes right we're most likely not going deep in the playoffs this season, assuming we get in at all.

I personally find it hard to get excited about the Sens as a team this season. I'm more focused on the individual play of guys like Regin, Karlsson, Foligno and Elliott and will start to get more enthusiastic once Cowen steps on the ice for the 2010/11 season.

Yes.

The score is a little tough to look at from the 1st game. Aside from the power play, I saw nothing glaringly or critically wrong. We should have our share of wins when we play like that and even more with an improved power-play.

The number of penalties we took was alarming, to say the least. Didn't we have a pretty bad penalty kill last year? And that's before losing Vermette.

Still, I am excited. Hard to be anything else.

I will say I'm very excited about the first period performance by Leclaire, the second period play by the Sens (too bad no goals though), and disappointed with the third period effort.

I WAS thrilled about the coming season.

Until the Rangers game.

I know it's the first game and all but it put a real damper on things with how they played.

If the planets align, we could indeed go far.

I am excited about the future as well. I'm worried BM will get fired someday and the next GM in line will get credit for 'restoring' the team when all of it will be due to BM's draft choices.

Amazing how one game can kill your buzz eh? I felt the same. Super excited based on our acquisitions and what we saw hints of during pre-season... then it all came crashing down in our first game. But, no fear, lots to be excited about and it's only one game. It's a LONG LONG season... so let's not be going crazy just yet.

It is just one game I just hope we're not talking about all the hot goalies we've faced and how we just can't bury our chances because if that's the case then Leclaire better start posting shutouts like he was in Columbus that one year.

I'm not a fairweather fan but I haven't been this excited for hockey in quite a while.

It's not that we lost to the Rags just how we lost. We're better than that. Is anyone excited about this season? 812636

I'll be all ready to go on Tuesday. Nothing like the Battle of Ontario Is anyone excited about this season? Icon_smile

Should be an entertaining game, win or lose.

That's been a real persistent cop-out for Ottawa. The truth is, they run up a high shot-count from the perimeter. The goalies aren't "hot" they just have easy shots.

I totally agree. I just don't want to hear that this season is all.

Especially when we have one of our own in LeClaire. Let's put the puck in the net, play sound D and the wins will come.

Shots from the perimeter are less our problem than shots without traffic. There should be some dirty noses. All too often we talk about crease clearers in our end. We need to focus on some crease crashing at the other end.

It is like the line of scrimmage in football. If you win the battle for the line of scrimmage in football you win the game. If you win the battle of the front of the net in hockey you usually win the game.

Time for someone to stand in front of the goalie and cause a distraction. Fight the defender for position. PAY THE PRICE!!!
