They will literally bore you to death. You'll lose because you were doing your 'to do' list the next day.

That said, there's a reason they're in 2nd place in the East - they check super tight - and guys like Spezza have always had an issue with that.

That's a HUGE problem in general.

Sharks @ Oilers tonight... Heatley should get a "nice" greeting... the fun starts at 9:30pm ET.

Hemsky may require season-ending surgery. I think it's Heatley's fault.

“I was just happy to stay here and be part of the Oilers, happy he
didn’t decide to come here. If he’s in the corner with a puck I’ll try
to run him over, but I try to do that every game to every player, I
have no hard feelings toward him."

- Edmonton's Ladislav Smid on facing Dany Heatley at home
Friday night for the first time since Heatley nixed a deal to the
Oilers in the summer. Smid was rumored to be going to Ottawa in the
deal.
Should be a fun game.

I'm going down to Atlanta (well, Alpharetta, but flying into Atlanta) Monday. Thrashers are actually in town Monday night, and I don't have any sessions until Tuesday morning, so I figured, what the heck, and clicked on the "Tickets" link. Selected "Best seats" and gave it a go. Two things I noticed:

1. $300 per ticket for row A, section 116 (not center, but just at the outside edge of the players' bench). $300 for a ticket in this economy in that market? Really?

2. Front row in that section is available? Really? I'm pretty sure front row is all sold out in all Canadian cities.

Anyhow, I won't be going, too rich for my blood for sure. Maybe it'll beon TV at the hotel.

And Kessel is living up to the hype in Leaf nation, I guess he was worth the 2 first rounders

He sure is for the next 2-3 years.

It will take a few years for that evaluation to be made... but Kessel certainly is the real deal... 8 goals already...

Yeah, imagine where he'd be if he had a center feeding him pucks. I admint, I was in that crowd that thought he'd fail without Savard, but I guess I was wrong. I still think the price was too high, but mainly because I think they could have gone the offer-sheet way and gotten him for less.

Actually, I just thought of a question to ask that former GM.

$4.5M for one year would be a 1st and a 3rd. Bruins couldn't match. Would Kessel play 65 games for $4.5M? I would Smile

He's $5.4M isn't he?

I'm talking about a 1-year deal, though. 60-65 games given his injury status. Then a wink-wink promise to make it up with a signing bonus on his next contract. Boston would not be in a position to match; would Kessel have been in a position to turn it down? Was Tambellini waiting in a dark alley somewhere with a Penner-esque sheet?

Detroit shut out in consecutive games. Why did I pick Leino again? I could have had Afinogenov. My bottom three are killing me -- Leino (5 points), Sykora (3) and Bouchard (hasn't played yet).

Devils forward David Clarkson, who was having his most productive start in his three NHL seasons with 7 goals, 3 power-play goals, 15 points and a plus-1 rating in 22 games, will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his lower right leg sustained Friday afternoon in Boston.

Edmonton right wing Ales Hemsky will miss the rest of the season because of a left shoulder injury that will require surgery to repair.

Already fighting shoulder problems, Hemsky was hurt again Wednesday night in a loss to Los Angeles when he was hit from behind by Michal Handzus. "The hit hurt him, but the problem was already there," general manager Steve Tambellini said. "There was already some instability in his shoulder before."
