He was an absolutely dominant centre for the Wolves.

Hartsburg tried him out at centre in the pre-season, I can't remember how long that stuck, though.

That would make a 2nd line of... Alfie-Kelly-Kovy... or put Fisher in there...?

Can't we convert Foligno to a centre or something?

I thought I remember Foligno being a natural Centre and is his preferred position. So...

Cheechoo - Spezza - Kovalev
Milan - Foligno - Alfie
Interesting... would that then force Clouston to try Fish at wing on the 3rd? The bottom 6 could round out to be:

Fisher-Kelly-Shannon
Winch-Neil-Ruutu

Hmmmm...

I think Kelly's the more natural and likely winger. And if Winchester impresses, he may move up.

Fisher can center that line - they're all Cs by trade I believe.

Kelly and Fish are listed as Cs but Shannon is listed as a RW.

Man, I hope Cheech is fully recovered from his injuries...a guy with that kind of scoring touch doesn't just lose it. If he really is back to 100% health, we could be in for a real treat this season!

FingersCrossed I'm so excited about the prospect too. I've always been a fan of Cheechoo. Despite his injuries and his troubles scoring his work ethic is great. I thought he played intensely last playoffs. One of the few Sharks who did. Outside of Fisher and perhaps a few others it's such welcome change for the Sens.

I'm pretty sure Shannon plays center as well. Someone know?

Extremely unlikely but possible auxiliary (and exciting!) benefit to the trade: Michalek's got an older brother (by two years) who happens to be the most under-rated defenceman (if not player) in hockey. He's also a soon-to-be free agent on a team with a tonne of turmoil.

I like what I've little I've seen of Z.Michalek a lot, but why is he so underrated? He doesn't put up the points, what is it about his game that makes his soooooooo underrated? I seriously can't recall.

He's got serious offensive upside and here's another tidbit you may enjoy - he led the league in blocked shots last year. I love this guy. I've wanted him for awhile now.

Perfect.

It even works in terms of where these guys play on the wings.

Michalek - Spezza - Cheechoo

Now...line 2:

Kovalev - Fisher - Alfredsson

Again, I know you say Kovalev can play LW, but until I hear 100% evidence on that, I would suggest that he might not be fantastic there if he's not comfortable.

I like Michalek with Spezza, but I'm afraid that his world class speed will be (not totally) wasted with those two guys(Spezza and Cheechoo). I'd really like another guy on that line that could keep up a little easier.

Fisher is an option, and you know that it'd be a hard working line (along with Cheechoo), but then again, I kind of want to put Michalek with as much talent as possible see what he is really capable of....

All these damn line combinations! Jonathan Cheechoo speaks; Sens fans debate the hot issues. - Page 13 639591

Ah well, I trust CC will do the right thing.

I don't want to disappoint anyone but you guys are going to realize how frustrating a player Kovalev is to have on your team. One day he feels like playing and another day he is no where in sight. He is a good player the problem is that he is only a good player when he wants to be

We've certainly heard enough about his play to know not to expect much from him. I'm pretty sure we can expect our PP to improve anyway.

i definitely think your pp will improve with him--its just that you see how good he is and than for 3 games he is no where in sight and than he appears again
