Extremely unlikely but possible auxiliary (and exciting!) benefit to the trade: Michalek's got an older brother (by two years) who happens to be the most under-rated defenceman (if not player) in hockey. He's also a soon-to-be free agent on a team with a tonne of turmoil.

Perfect.

It even works in terms of where these guys play on the wings.

Michalek - Spezza - Cheechoo

Now...line 2:

Kovalev - Fisher - Alfredsson

Again, I know you say Kovalev can play LW, but until I hear 100% evidence on that, I would suggest that he might not be fantastic there if he's not comfortable.

That would make a 2nd line of... Alfie-Kelly-Kovy... or put Fisher in there...?

Can't we convert Foligno to a centre or something?

I like what I've little I've seen of Z.Michalek a lot, but why is he so underrated? He doesn't put up the points, what is it about his game that makes his soooooooo underrated? I seriously can't recall.

Indeed, that's what Clouston had him penciled in as I believe (whether that will stick or not, who knows). Foligno plays a wicked center. Ahhhhh!

Holy Dung, I won't lie...that excites me. Can Foligno pass though (again, I don't recall, serious question :^^^^: )

I thought I remember Foligno being a natural Centre and is his preferred position. So...

Cheechoo - Spezza - Kovalev
Milan - Foligno - Alfie

He's just so dominant and smooth defensively. He basically holds Jovo's hand around the ice. He also led the league in blocked shots by a significant margin and has the offensive stuff to be a 40 or so point defenceman.

Man...that looks like a sweet top 6 to me. Spezza would have a field day setting up those two. Line two will give the opposition fits with a perfect mix (all three players having it) of speed, forecheck, and skill....beautiful!

He was an absolutely dominant centre for the Wolves.

Our 3rd line is solid too and hell, the 4th line has tallent on it as well. Neil and Ruutu do have the ability to put the puck in the net.

So excitted for this season. Glad everyone is now under the same mind set that the team is way more important then a 100 point guy or a 50 goal scorer.

Interesting... would that then force Clouston to try Fish at wing on the 3rd? The bottom 6 could round out to be:

Fisher-Kelly-Shannon
Winch-Neil-Ruutu

Hmmmm...

Hartsburg tried him out at centre in the pre-season, I can't remember how long that stuck, though.

I think Kelly's the more natural and likely winger. And if Winchester impresses, he may move up.

Fisher can center that line - they're all Cs by trade I believe.
