You don't think a team like San Jose that can't afford to ice a full team would pay a little extra for a utility man?
@Spader> where do you get the notion that SJ can't afford to ice a full team? CapGeek.com has them at 22 players with almost a million left in cap room.
Schubert might be of interest (but so might Anton Babchuk, Dennis Seidenberg or Marc Andre Bergeron). As N4L says, Schubie doesn't have much market value. It being the last year of his contract, he should be motivated though...which could be good for the Sens.
IMHO Karlsson has the talent to push for a Top 4 spot. He could prove Ottawa's equivalent to Luke Schenn and what he did last year, in terms of his impact on his own team's roster.
I'm pretty sure he was talking about Campoli, DTRdavetherave wrote:@Marakh> Karlsson is already WAY better than Corvo.

Other than that, no other D-man for this franchise has ever been as overall impressive as this kid already is.

N4L wrote:Well obviously Cowen will more than likely become that perfect compliment to Karlsson. If Lee actually turns into something resembling a top 4 D man, we are set for a long time with Karlsson, Cowen, Wierchoich, and Lee. In 5 or 6 years that could be the most complete blueline in the league, even better then LA's.
Lee really has to find his niech though as a professional. This isnt high school where you can skate end to end and just tuck it in. He needs to either become a physical presence and with his size there is no reason he cant be. He wont be an offensive force by any means because of his shot, but a D man that can skate like he can and become that shut down fuy will always have a job, prob top 4.

I can just as easily see Cowen becoming the foundation guy and Karlsson the complementary offensive force. Remember, this guy was touted as #3 over-all and a franchise defenceman before his injury. What he did at 16 in the WHL was nuts.
Thankfully, we don't have to choose between them, or Wiercioch for that matter.
Yet.
