GM Hockey Fantasy Pool Round 2

Instead of guessing what is going to happen with people, plan for what probably will happen.

Ill play along until it becomes just totally impossible for it to be fair.

Back to the land of humble people.

Tuk Tuk, the rules were clear. You have to remember, that people will login in mass when the season gets closer. The current pace will not stay the same.

This pool isn't for money, it is for fun. When it comes time to picking my 8th and 9th forwards, I will probably pick guys I want to watch, not necessarily who I think will get the most points. It won't be hard for me to pick Ryan Shannon because I want to see him succeed or Milan Lucic because I love watching him crush people. It is all about favorites when it gets down to those picks and that is what makes it fun, watching those guys play on your team.

Even though I'd rather have 9 forwards, I see no problem with 6. Less than 2 goalies isn't fun though. Yes this is going slow, but it's summer and people obviously are busy either with their work or kids or whatever summer activities they have. This isn't about people making others wait out of disrespect, not everyone can sign as frequently. We still have tons of time left before the season starts, and things should pick up as we go and people are less busy.

I *did* the math. It took from Sunday to Thursday morning to get through round 1. That's 4 days (plus a bit), including a weekend day. At that rate we would be done around October 8.

One thing to make it go faster (other than dropping 3 forwards) is to start taking 2 players at a time after, say, the first 5 rounds, reducing the number of rounds to 10.

Mass-PM is not very useful, since you are only ever stuck on one person at a time. You could do a multi-PMto let 2-3 people know their turn is coming up soon, but a mass-PM is only going to help of you insist on full-round lists.

And, frankly, I am dead-set against full round lists. You can rank forwards, you can rank defensemen, you can rank goalies. But I tied ranking across all three positions and, sadly, I'm not man-enough to do it. You can work out strategies (e.g. get a forwards if you're picking top-five, but a premiere D-man if you're picking mid-round), but you also need to make tactical decisions based on the latest picks. I can see making a list of the next 5-6 picks, but anything higher than that and you are really pushing it.
