As per TSN -

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=287229

Sources tell TSN the Toronto Maple Leafs are about to deal goaltender Justin Pogge to the Anaheim Ducks.

The deal is expected to be completed on Monday.

The terms of the trade have been agreed on with Pogge going to the Ducks in exchange for a conditional late round draft pick that can improve based on Pogge's play.

To fill the void of a Number 3 goalie, Toronto is also expected to announce the signing of free agent goaltender Joey MacDonald.

So is Giguere being traded? Or is Pogge going to the AHL?

JS is going to LA for a pick and young player which in turn would be flipped to Ottawa along with Perry for Heatley......oh I wish

Giggy to LA does make sense though.

It sure does. With the emergence of Hiller, at least if Giggy can stay in Cali he can continue to get the care he needs for his Son at the same hospital.

It does too. Anaheim has Hiller who had a terrific season. And is more experienced than people expect. The guy is a surprising 27 years old.

And LA needs a proven goalie to help their young goalies, and to be a true threat in he West. With Giguere there, that handles that. It does make sense.

And Anaheim is pretty depleted in the prospect pool, something LA has a surplus in, if it is even possible to have a surplus in prospects.

Ok, so if a LA was considering JS. What would they give up and what would ANA want.

Does Anaheim really want to send him to a cross-town rival though? With the goalie market being what it is, a pick and young player sounds like a hefty return. LA could easily deal with the NYI who have 3 NHL calibre goalies for much less imo. Dan Ellis in Nashville may be expendable. Halak might be had. There are lots of options.

ANA might just waive Giguere like they did Bryzgalov. Ahhhhh!

Pogge can't go to the American Hockey League because Anaheim doesn't have an affiliate team in the AHL. That is what makes me think Giguere is gone.

That means he could be assigned to any AHL team.

Not true... they do have an affiliate...

The San Antonio Rampage will be their primary affiliate with others available to them.

Sorry Shabbs. One little word makes a huge difference. The word "main" was supposed to be in there.

Thanks for catching that.

Not having a true affiliate means your prospects are at the mercy of another rival team. Having your prospects play 3rd string goalie and 5th line duties is not the way to develop them.
