I'm guessing that these guys are still drawing a pay cheque so need to write something to justify the pay. Writing about nothing is better than writing about something imaginary.."I heard from a source that ________ is interested in moving ______________ to _________ for ___________."

You are right that there is nothing to write about.

Oh, he'll be in camp if not traded.

Or, he doesn't show up at all, Melnyk sues, and he doesn't get paid. There's our $4M for this year cleared up and the remainder of his contract for the next 5 years.

That's what I'm hoping for, at least we won't have to settle for some so-so players.

He will show up, that's a guarantee. There will be no suing or conspiracy about that. One way or another, this will get done somehow.

Whether it be via trade or the Sens organization, once again doing damage control.

yeah i also doubt he doesn't show up. heatly will want his gold medal at the olympic this year.

and trust me if he didn't they would rather trade him for less then going to court and losing his contract and his trade value. cos sure he'd be off the book but we'd be no closer to replacing him.

he'll be gone before puck drops.

Jawal> you bring up a good point about the dilemma of Mainstream Media Vs the Blogosphere.

In principle, this opinon piece by Panzeri would have just as easily been a commentary on a blog, rather than taking up the front page of the Sports Section in the Citizen.

But both Canwest and SunMedia are trying to cope with the fact they are increasingly out of touch with fans.

The journalists themselves are less guilty than their bosses who hang on to the old way of doing things...those bosses who resist the inevitable rise of the people's voice that the Web represents.

The REAL insights into the hockey world are found, more and more, on forums like these...where Old School Journalism and Mainstream Media are challenged.

What if Panzeri and the Citizen would have created an Open Forum on OttawaCitizen.com to discuss these points he raises, and invited the readers to participate?

Now THAT might have been useful.

If he doesn't show up he is suspended and I think his entire cap hit comes off (while he is suspended). He doesn't get any of his salary checks. and Melnyk's lawyers go after the $4M paid to him on July 1.

But I seriously doubt he'd do that -- no way his agents let him do that, since they'd be out 10-15% of whatever he doesn't get/has to return.
