Arlington, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals re-signed defenseman Milan Jurcina to a one-year contract Friday. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jurcina appeared in a career-high 79 games for the Capitals last season, posting three goals and 11 assists. He was first on the club with 131 blocked shots and second with 157 hits. He also scored two goals in 14 playoff games.
In 275 career games with Boston and Washington in parts of four seasons, Jurcina has 14 goals and 32 assists.
The Czech native was an eighth-round selection of the Bruins, 241st overall, in the 2001 NHL Draft. He has represented Czechoslovakia in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games, the 2006 and 2007 World Championships and two World Junior Championships.
