The Toronto Maple Leafs had added some depth at forward as the team announced the signing of Clarke MacArthur to a one-year contract on Saturday worth a reported $1.1 million.
MacArthur became a free agent after the Atlanta Thrashers walked away from the $2.4 million salary that was awarded to him through an independent arbitrator.
The 25-year old MacArthur split time between the Buffalo Sabres and the Atlanta Thrashers last season, scoring 16 goals and adding 19 assists in 81 games.
In 208 career games, the Llyodminster, Alberta native 44 goals and 44 assists.
Originally the Sabres third round selection, 74th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, MacArthur helped Canada capture gold at the 2005 IIHF World Hockey Championship.
