RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes signed veteran forward Stephane Yelle to a US$550,000, one-year deal on Wednesday.
It will be the fourth NHL team for the two-time Stanley Cup winner, who spent last season in Boston.
"Stephane is a proven winner," Hurriances GM Jim Rutherford said in
a statement. "He adds depth and experience to the Hurricanes at the
centre position, and he will contribute to the penalty kill."
The 35-year-old Yelle had 18 points (7-11) in 77 games with the
Bruins last season. He was a plus-6 and won 52 per cent of his faceoffs.
In 921 career games with Colorado, Calgary and Boston, Yelle has 92
goals and 257 points. He was part of the Avalanche teams that won the
Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001.
