Heatley not attending Spezza's wedding?

Respect guys, come on, Mark's a great guy, he's probably busy. Besides, the rumours were nothing extraordinary - to the point that I think we heard them from other places in the meantime. I actually can't recall what they were. Heatley was sleeping with someone's GF/wife? I can't recall.

Nobody said he wasn't a great guy. Just seems to want to be all cloak and dagger about nothing.

I am sure KLee is a great guy too!

But when you come flapping that you have news...that you cannot share just yet...but will soon (i.e. after the wedding)...then you best come flapping...no?

I guess he said he could only say anything after the wedding so we'd assume it might be awkward because he was:

- a guest

- betraying the confidence of someone "close to the situation"

- afraid that his "report" would actually be noticed and cause some sort of disruption at the wedding?

This is the first time, and there are many reasons to accept his statement at face value. So we should give him the benefit of doubt.

If he shows consistent patterns, though, like Lee, then the response can and should rightfully change.

That's really hard to tell from your post. Remember that in an online forum, people don't have the benefits of body-language, facial expressions, etc. to help determine if people are serious or not.

Let's try to keep that in mind

Well leading into friday night, there was two schools of thought, one Spezza approached Max Keeping and BG amongst other to spread word that Heatley "wasn't" going to show up, to try and calm the media storm.

The 2nd was Heatley is literally is seperating himself from the team, and trying to make left unbarable for Murray and the team to even consider bringing him back, in an effort to expidite a trade to a place on his list.

Well asking around has led to it being number 2.

Apparently Spezza had wanted Heatley at the wedding dispite the media storm, and made that intention very clear with the hiring of additional security.

In the end Heatley made the decision to not show up to the wedding, and he decided to do it fairly last minute as we all found out.

I realize it's nothing spectacular or earth-shattering in terms of news or info, but I didn't want to post it, incase it was the first scenario and they really were just trying to quiet the media storm around the wedding.

But in the end Heatley was still a welcome part of the wedding party, but he simply declined.

He's dug the hole too deep imo. If he'd at least tried to keep the lines of communication open and appear to give a Dung, people might be inclined to cut him (a little) slack. I think too many bridges have been burned to have him back. I am convinced he won't be here at the start of the regular season. I just hope that Murray finds an offer that works for us.
