Heatley's gonna have to get real with the possibility he won't be moved...

He's dug the hole too deep imo. If he'd at least tried to keep the lines of communication open and appear to give a Dung, people might be inclined to cut him (a little) slack. I think too many bridges have been burned to have him back. I am convinced he won't be here at the start of the regular season. I just hope that Murray finds an offer that works for us.

Now that that object in the Ottawa River has turned out to be a "rock or pile of logs" (yeah, sure) we are turning our attention back to Heatley. What was it that you couldn't tell us before?

Well leading into friday night, there was two schools of thought, one Spezza approached Max Keeping and BG amongst other to spread word that Heatley "wasn't" going to show up, to try and calm the media storm.

The 2nd was Heatley is literally is seperating himself from the team, and trying to make left unbarable for Murray and the team to even consider bringing him back, in an effort to expidite a trade to a place on his list.

Well asking around has led to it being number 2.

Apparently Spezza had wanted Heatley at the wedding dispite the media storm, and made that intention very clear with the hiring of additional security.

In the end Heatley made the decision to not show up to the wedding, and he decided to do it fairly last minute as we all found out.

I realize it's nothing spectacular or earth-shattering in terms of news or info, but I didn't want to post it, incase it was the first scenario and they really were just trying to quiet the media storm around the wedding.

But in the end Heatley was still a welcome part of the wedding party, but he simply declined.

🇬🇬 and come on with KL comments.....those cut deep. I'd rather be called Howard Berger :blah:

Well...there it is...the same old crap we all already knew...thanks for the breaking news...the big insight...

the KLee comments are just about bang on...sorry if that cuts deep...but honestly...this is this same crap he use to pull all of the time...tell people he has the scoop but cannot share yet...wait a couple of days to read everyone's speculation...and then post about their speculation as if it were his scoop to begin with...

thanks for the scoop...I guess??

Mark, thanks for letting us in.

Looking at his reasoning, though, if true, he has go to be (to borrow from an old show I liked) galcatically stupid. The kind of stupid of epic proportions.

1. The Sens have paid him $4M already and would like to get their money's worth or, better yet, to get their money back.

2. They brought in Kovalev to replace Heatley's production. He won't replace his goals, but he'll replace more than half of them, and his playmaking abilities will increase the output of his other line-mates. Plus we'll have a better PP.

3. If Heatley isn't traded nd doesn't play, guess what, an army of lawyers have already drafted the paperwork to get back the $4M paid out, plus he won't get a dime come October, and forget about wearing the red and white in February.

How smart do you have to be to figure out that Heatley not playing is the best of a bad situation that the Sens could hope to achieve? Or, flip it over -- how stupid would you have to be to not be able to figure it out?

Not once did I say it was breaking news or anything major.

I just said there's more to situation thats out there, and didn't feel it would be proper of me to post "that Keeping and BG may be reporting Heatley's non attendance as a potential smokescreen to try to calm the media storm around the wedding"

In the end Heatley decided to not show up by his own decision.

As for waiting to copy others speculation,

This is the word for word e-mail I sent Spezdispenser, after I made the initial vague post, with the timestamp (Obviously I can edit in the forum but if you ask Spez, I'm sure he'll vouche for the timestamp and e-mail.)

I'll fill you in since you right (meant to say run) the site and plus it will hopefully clear things up a bit more, so I don't look like a tool.

I've been calling around to some people trying to figure out this Heatley thing, because as of 3-4 hours ago Heatley was still confirmed to be attending

and 2 different situations have come up.

One - Spezza has asked his "media" guests i.e. Max and BG to "report" Heatley isn't coming. When in fact Heatley is still coming, as he is part of the actual wedding party, with his GF.

Basically a ploy to take the heat off the wedding. (No pun intented)

Two - Heatley literally is seperating himself from the team, and trying to make it very uncomfortable for Murray and the team to even consider bringing him back, thus forcing Murray to take a less-than satisfactory trade from SJ or LA.

Just don't want to post either yet, incase it is scenario #1 and they are just try to play down the wedding and the potential Media Storm.

------------------------

I obviously made a mistake making the vague post, sorry if you feel scammed or short-stick, yeah I was late posting a response, but remember I have a personal life too and occasionally that puts things on the back burner.

But I've worked very hard over the last year to provide the Sens faithful with insight, news and talks coming out of Ottawa. I've made myself very available to hockey fans, and specifically Sens fans through offering up my personal e-mail, posting in HB forums, and even joined this site because it has become a great place for Sens fans to talk.

I had an error in judgement, but to spend the day reading about how I'm like a guy who had people banned for questioning him, acts like gods gift to the world when he actually shows up to Sens events, and all around treats Sens fans like crap.

It's serious overkill.

Heatley is out of his mind. He'd do that and after nixing a deal to Edmonton? Why, to put more pressure on Murray to find another team? Look what's happening, he could easily be a Senator. At some point - and I can't be clear enough about this - he will have to face the media.

Guy's a moron. Facepalm

What is your problem Collar? I don't understand this post in the least. Mark e-mailed this to me way before any of this happened, but I'm not going to share the info with everyone, it was his to tell.

What's the big deal? Mark had legit info and he shared it with us, if you already knew it, that's fine. Some of us didn't.

I just don't know why you would go out of your way to disrespect Mark like that. We're all just fans in the long run and everyone is really antsy and bored right now. We all need to chill.

Everyone take a step back and relax.

You've done a great job Mark, there's no way you need to be answering posts like that. Not everyone is going to love what you write, some won't like you, some will only go to Buzz to read your blogs, but in the long run, it's something you love to do - and it's certainly something we all love to do here. And the majority of us really enjoy reading your stuff.

Keep it up. Cheers

Agreed.

The only thing I'd add is a friendly warning, along the lines of what i wrote previously - people will (should) give you the benefit of the doubt when you make statements like the one you did. You will have your reasons, and they may not be obvious until after the fact. You would do well to not abuse the privilege/leeway, however, as there are several on any board (this one included) who are quick to attack, and perhaps less quick to apologize.

Keep up the good work, and thanks for keeping us in the loop (as much as it is possible, with the lockdown on info coming out of the Sens head office).
