Sens sign Kovalev!!

living in montreal myself i've had the opportunity to watch this guy play so many times. sure i'll give it to you he might be good for 80 points, then again he might be good for 60 also. there isn't any guarantees that he's gonna produce. i'll reserve my judgment for a later day.if he ends up on the 1st line, i have to admit that he hasn't had the chance to play with such great players in montreal. i'm not sure if we put him on the 2nd though... at any rate he was one of the best choices left.

which ever way you switch it i could live with that line-up... bring in some youth when there's some injuries.

5 mil is about all I would pay, haha.

He had 6 points less than Heatley last year, AND he had 35 goals the year before that playing with nothing even remotely close to any of the big three in Ottawa.

To say that he can't easily hit 35G/70PTS this year might be a stretch.

Agreed, I like the idea of spreading it out a bit. Penner adds size to the top line while Kovy gives Fisher the winger he needs. Personally I would let Cogs and Folingo battle it out for the other 2nd line wing spot.

I'm assuming some money is heading out the door with Heatley, at the very least Smith and Schubert I'd imagine.

Plus then you move another 1 million in Auld to possibly say San Jose, if they can clear the decks a bit, and you're right back in the black again.

This pretty much rules out guys like Zubov and Regin playing up here next year.
