I dont either so... I like Kelly and at 2.1 mil a season he isnt that bad. He's a solid player.

Kelly is a phenomenal third line centre. Plus since Vermette was traded, he's Ottawa's best penalty killer.

He is, all of this "we gotta trade Kelly" BS gets kind of annoying. I'm not gonna cry if he gets deal to open up a roster spot, w/e, but he doesnt have to go, he doesnt need to be dealt.

The point I was trying to make, originally, is that instead of having two scoring lines, a checking line and an "energy" line, maybe we should go for three scoring lines (1, 2A, 2B) and an energy line. Currently we don't really have much room to bring up young forward players with skill/scoring touch. They aren't going to make the top line (well, not as long as Heatley is still here), and chances are they aren't going to make the second line. Then they get put on the third line which is defense-first shut-down line with Kelly, Winchester, whoever.

Once we develop the forward talent to make two scoring lines, then we could use a player like Kelly to center a third checking line, which will pop in a few goals here and there.

I don't hate Kelly, I never did. I was arguing way back when that he could get $2.2-2.5 elsewhere. Of course his last season did nothing to support my opinion of him, but that's basically where I stood. When we were an elite team -- or at least a team with the best top line, we could afford a checking line that did not contribute much. We are not in the same situation now.

If Kelly was dealt to give Regin a shot in that number 3 role, that would make total sense to me. If it is just to clear 2.1 mil in cap space I think it's a bit of a stupid move because it doesnt solved anything.

Getting ride of guys like Comrie, Shubert, Smith, so on is a little more important then just dealing Kelly. Kelly hasnt had much luck latly either and has been bounced around on every line possible the last 2 years.

Thank God Heatley is going (I hope) because now The Sens can try some other things and see what works and what doesnt.

Agreed. Regin could be our 2nd line center in a couple of years (please, please, please move Fisher to the wing).

Moving Fisher to the wing is probably one of the last things that people in Ottawa should be worried about. He could stap on the pads and I could care less at this point.

We missed the UFA boat so no need to talk about that in Ottawa, our goaltending is the only thing that is sorted out and looking good.

The only priority in Ottawa right now is getting Heatley out of Ottawa and there are only 2 places he can actually go at this point, and that is LA and Edmonton.
