Usually, guys who graduate from UNiversity can make the jump directly to the NHL, as their body is ready.
The question is how skilled he is? Can he crack the line up as a 3rd liner?

I figured he'd make the jump right away. What could he learn in Bingo after 4 years in college? I hope he makes it out of camp.

confused

pretty good right now that Murray was forced to sit on his hands yesterday by Heatley. 🇬🇬

Yeah it's an entry-level deal, standard two-way, 3 years.

Ek reported (i know, i know) that Heatley didn't waive out of spite, that he wanted the Sens to pay the $4M.

Some good news I suppose. Not a whole lot to be excited about with regards to the Sens other than the draft, which I was impressed with. Heatley should and will play here until BM can make the right deal. Suck it up buttercup, and play your Donkey off. If not, this could really be a long year.

BM...you can go ahead and resign Comrie now. I for one, am wondering where the goals are going to come from. I like what he have coming from the farm in terms of Regin etc, but I'm holding my breath that they can score in the NHL with regularity just yet.

With Montreal and Toronto seemingly improving (Montreal's signings don't really impress me, they just got more skill, but are alot smaller), we could very easily be the basement of the division this season. Hopefully Murray doesn't do anything stupid and try to improve our standing once it's painfully obvious that we suck. I really want to be optimistic about this season, but it seems that several of the middle-of-the-pack teams got better, while we are just spinning our wheels.

i don't think he'll make the jump right away. the AHL will give us a better idea if he can play against men.

Bingo's gonna be really good next year. Brodeur, St.Pierre, Condra, that D-man we signed a while ago.

Ottawa's going to need these guys to pan out and play a significant role for us. Teams need big, strong guys who can and will play 3rd-4th line roles, and do it effectively and efficiently. Were also going to need to rely on building from within if we turn into an Edmonton.

St Pierre has a real shot at playing in Ottawa with a good training camp.

:^^^^: Don't be absurd. Regin's going to be playing in Ottawa this season.

Yep, he'll play in Ottawa. I think he might start the year in Bingo, but he'll be like Shannon, a call up who sticks.

In all seriousness: where? Where does he fit now that we re-signed Neil?

He doesn't. Murray seems adamant about keeping the Sens a one-line team offensively.

I had hoped that we could keep the FFS line together, lose Neil, deal Kelly and then build one offensive line around Spezza and Alfredsson, and another around Regin and the return for Heatley, signing lower-tier UFA scoring forwards to fill the holes.

I really dislike the Neil contract, not so much because of the player we re-signed or the money, but because it prohibits scoring depth. Regin should not be playing between Neil/Kelly/Ruutu/Winchester/our other gazillion bottom-6 players.

That said, Regin is a better player than almost everyone in our bottom 6.
