Le Canadien a mis la main sur les attaquants Scott Gomez et Tom Pyatt et du défenseur Michael Busto des Rangers de New York en retour de l’attaquant Christopher Higgins et des défenseurs Ryan McDonagh, Pavel Valentenko et Doug Janik.

RDS a appris en primeur cette transaction.

Gomez touchera un salaire annuel de huit millions l'an prochain et il est sous contrat jusqu'en 2013-14.

L'an dernier, Gomez a récolté 16 buts et 42 passes en 77 rencontres.

Higgins quitte le Canadien après un séjour de quatre saisons à Montréal. Il a disputé 282 parties dans la LNH récoltant 84 buts et 67 aides (151 points).

Gainey gets an 'impact player' in Gomez...but this may be a prelude to his pitch for the Sedins.

Gomez never lived up to expectations in NY, but he was an excellent player in New Jersey, so perhaps Bob has plans...

Higgins has been mentioned in trade talks for some time now...not surprising he has been moved. A former 25-plus goal man, he may get a chance to relaunch with Tortorella.
