What video game are you playing?

Just bought:



Of course I've finished the 2 games on ps2 a long time ago but it's just too good remastered in HD. These 2 are among the few games that I can think of that brings out emotion.

I think that was a response to the criticism of Oblivion that there was no way to escape from your level - every enemy was 'levelled' according to the PC level, so no matter where you went you always faced enemies that were more or less appropriate to your power level and therefore no area was any more dangerous than any other. This compromised the open world feeling somewhat, because no matter where you ventured, you'd never run into a 'hard' enemy. It was also easy to exploit, because there were a lot of ways to make your character very powerful without actually increasing their level (for instance, setting skills that you never use as 'primary' so that you could increase the skills you do use without increasing your character level.)

Skyrim levels enemies for the most part, too, but there are still some places where you'll run into enemies that are 'out of your league.' I actually like this because it adds an element of suspense and danger to the world - you actually have to worry about straying too far from the beaten path because there's a chance you'll encounter something that's too difficult for you to kill. I like the giants in particular because they generally won't attack unless you engage them (i.e. by getting too close) but you can still sneak around them or even beat them with a low level character if you plan things right. I think it makes for a better 'role playing' experience because there are some situations where you're probably better off avoiding a fight altogether, but if you prefer to fight it's still possible to win.

I bought Skyrim... gave it a spin last night... died way too many times.

Also got Rocksmith... and didn't notice earlier today while playing, but I just finished playing and was getting electrocuted

I've gotten into the habit of saving every 5 minutes or so. It was frustrating to play for 1/2 hour only to get wiped out and have to start all over again....

Yeah, frequent saves are a must. The game is phenomenal though.

I'm not dying that often.

I've started a few characters to see how different skills work, and some are definitely harder (at least to start) than others. Where you pick a race that doesn't match how you want to play (i.e. the 'Orc Wizard') it's definitely harder at first - but as you raise in level things even out.

I think the trick is to constantly prepare as if there is a hard fight waiting around every corner.

Wow, Dark Souls is Cussing impressive. I haven't been that involved mentally in a game in a long time. The mechanics are pretty simple, you go into dungeons and you fight trough ennemis and big bosses. But the atmosphere, the music, just wow. I don't know how they do it but before each fight my heart beats like a drum machine, and after each fight I feel on top of the world. It's hard to explain but you gotta play it.

Also played Skyrim a lil bit at a friend's place. Of course didn't play enough to fall into the vibe but, I know they have to build a huge world and everything and are limited in time and money, but I think it's time Bethesda think about upgrading the characters' textures a little bit

Damn Xbox Live is down and good luck getting an answer when it will be back. I keep getting disconnected from their support staff on the phone and their website isn't even working.

Playstation network is up, and I have won 7 straight games online with OTTAWA, scoring 35 goals and only giving up 7 in the process. my best stretch ever, in any year!

Found a workaround thanks to some random guy on Twitter who said to sign into your account through the xbox site and accept the new terms. It worked.

Yeah, the new terms that prevent you from suing Microsoft.

Skyrim is Game of the Year on all platforms. Something must be wrong with you.

I guess I don't like RPG's. I mostly play NHL anyways, so I rarely have time for other games.

When GTA 5 comes out though, I'll play that a lot.
