Pens go up 1-0.

Lots of empty seats man! WOW! I know this is Detroit and all, but man, this is the SCF!!!

1-0 Pens after 1. Not a bad first period. Wings were the better team in the first half but the Pens came on at the end.

The difference in this game so far has been that the Pens were able to stave off Detroit's early surge--thanks to excellent play by Fleury--and shift the momentum their way.

While the Wings got the first seven shots, the Pens got the last eleven.

Pittsburgh, notably, has been much stronger on faceoffs; getting the puck down below the Wings' goal line; and breaking through Detroit's neutral zone trap.

Getting the 1st goal on that late PP was big.

The Pens were also able to turn back the Wings' customary 'one minute drill'.

Terrific hockey game.

Yeah, faceoffs are 9-7 in Pitt's favour.

Wings tie it up on a goal by Ericsson.

Wings take a 2-1 lead on a controversial goal by Filppula.

No team plays the five man unit as well as the Red Wings, and no team opens up the zones with east-west passing with Detroit's quality of execution.

The Wings had their surge on from the beginning of the second, and they kept driving the puck behind the Pens' D to make Pittsburgh's defensemen chase after it--to be given big hits by Wings forwards. The Ericsson goal was a direct result.

Just as Valtteri Filppula showed in last year's playoffs that his puck skill and presence of mind make him a valuable player, so did his exceptional goal to give Detroit the lead.

The Pens' role players, like Kennedy and Adams, have been much better than they were in Game One.

With chances and close calls coming in numerous scrambles and more than a few off the posts, both goalies have been superb.

And once again, the Wings turn on the afterburners in the last minute.

Ya gotta love this game.

Wings take a 2-1 lead into the third. Pens are gonna need to pour it on.

Quite the physical battle between these two teams. Wings are going to make sure that nobody goes after Lidstrom, though.

So, after watching the Wings, who's up for taking OEL at the draft? :excite:

Two career playoff goals - one SCF game winner, and this one?
How do they find these kids?

Very difficult for the Pens to score when four Red Wings are stuffed into their own net. Hilarious.

Hank Zetterberg shows he is also an excellent defenseman.

Justin AbdelKILLER? The Pens have to be thinking he is...and young Justin demonstrates how his badminton skills come in handy as he scores the second goal of his career.
