Agreed. I hope the greedy bastard loses everything and that 1000s of Canadian jobs are lost as a result.

So, I think it's pretty clear that this will be the last season in Phoenix for the Coyotes. The NHL will be awarded ownership eventually and then they won't find a local buyer and will have to sell to someone in another market.

So long Phoenix... smell ya later.

Ultimately, the other owners end up footing the legal costs and the losses in Phoenix for the coming season too. Oh yeah, and the purchase price. Looks good on 'em.

It will be interesting tallying up the losses at the end of the season and the impact it has on the owners.

They have tonnes of money. It's not like they founded public companies that have dropping revenues.

But those with tonnes of money don't like spending it on things they don't have to... hence why they have tonnes of money. Balsillie and Bettman Go To War - Page 58 Icon_wink

At any rate, I'm sure Bettman has sold them a nice line that it will all even out in the end.

Yes. All will be well. The NHL is fine.

I wonder if they intend to match Balsillie's offer of 50 million to the City of Glendale when they pull the rug out at season's end?

He's pulling the "Make It Seven" merchandise and having it rebranded with a picture of The Gary with a caption that reads " Diddle Canada and Diddle Glendale". Balsillie and Bettman Go To War - Page 58 455378

That should be a big seller.

Nah... they'll do the minimum required to appease Judge Baum. It's the NHL after all.

Are you sure? Because I thought the NHL was all about the Coyotes fans and making hockey work in Glendale.

Come on, guys...it's all about showbiz.

And that in mind, RIM and the NHL are getting together to produce the next instalment in the highly successful series, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

Word is that Gary B will make his screen debut as Austin (while Mike Myers will play Gary). And it should be no surprise that Dr. Evil and MiniMe will be played by....

I think if Balsillie steps away for a bit, maybe gets a different team (ie: ditch Rodier and co) and "play nice" with the NHL and Gary Bettman... perhaps he'll be able to get a team one day. I don't think the NHL is expanding or moving to Canada any day soon.

Jim and Gary both being regular visitors to the GMHockey site, this photo of them was released upon their reading Shabbs' most recent suggestion:

It's funny because the trades are reporting that Gary is in fact swamped with scripts to star in a number of remakes: The Grifters, The Sting, The Music Man, The Hustler, The Rainmaker...

By the time any of these are made, they'll surely be shown at the Glendale 48-screen multiplex, formerly Jobing.com arena.

This just in from TSN via The Associated Press:

Security was called in this morning at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island when a man dressed as the Islanders' number one draft pick John Tavares was discovered trying to practice with the team.

The impostor was exposed by an eagle-eyed photographer covering the workout.

The man, identified as Canadian high-tech entrepreneur James Balsillie, was escorted from the premises as he waved his American Express card, shouting, "I can make it seven! I can make it seven!"

From the GMH Expositor:

Authorities are circulating a photo of an identified man wanted in a fraud case. The suspect is accused of masquerading as lobbyist advocating the "best interests of Arizona hockey fans".

He was last seen headed towards Glendale at the wheel of a Mayflower moving van towing a giant wooden horse.
