Murray said Shannon would be one of about 10 players fighting for roster spots in camp. Among the players he mentioned in that group were Nick Foligno, Cody Bass, Jesse Winchester, Ilya Zubov, Greg Mauldin, Peter Regin and another right wing with whom Murray said he's reached a verbal agreement.

That's what I'm trying to find out. I can't see Glenn Murray agreeing to be part of Bongo though, can you?

What's your source on this? Are there any direct B. Murray quotes?

No, that's quite true. I was thinking he's be brought in and Shannon would spend the year in Bongo.

It's in a guy's article Michael Sharp and these are exact quotes yes.

BTW, this is Tim Murray not Bryan.

Reading over those few words that Sharp reports, I'd say he's not talking about Glenn Murray. The words seem to imply that whoever this mystery RW is, he would be on a 2-way deal and play in Bingo if he didn't make the cut:

"This right wing is expected to battle for a roster spot in Ottawa
during camp with the likes of newly acquired Ryan Shannon, Nick
Foligno, Cody Bass, etc.

Should Shannon and this new player start in Binghamton, though, Murray
said they should be "definitely top-six forwards, if they're not both
top-three forwards."

I can't see G. Murray agreeing to a 2-way deal. There are just too many teams, like Nashville or Vancouver for starters, would could use him and would surely offer him a 1-way deal.

This is the most up-to-date list of UFA RW that I could find:

http://www.sportscity.com/NHL/NHL-Free-Agents-by-Position-2008/#Right%20Wing

The only one that catches my eye is Dallas Drake, as he played fairly well with Detroit last year, but I can't see him going to Bongo.

Any other suggestions?

He retired. I think it's gonna be a college or university player. Someone undrafted that Murray feels has the potential to make an impact.

Not someone we know, I don't think.

My bet is that it's Jeff Hamilton. He would give us another weapon to use on the point on the PP. Other than him I would agree that it could be an undrafted college player but I think most of the worthwhile ones were signed last year around the same time as Winchester.

That's possible. I heard someone talking about Hamilton (perhaps it was negatively, but nonetheless...).

Actually, if he signed a 2-way he'd be a top 3 player in Bingo - and a nice call up. It might be him after all. That would be a good call.

Yup he's basically a PP specialist. Most teams have just thrown him on their 4th line and then put him on the point on their PP. Clearly it has worked for a few team. He has a really nice shot... but besides that I don't knwo alot about him.
