This one is for the best ALL-AROUND D man who is great at both ends of the ice. Make your nominations here.

Chara.

Big man, can dominate a game, led his team to 1st in the East, scored 19 goals.

I'm going with Lidstrom. Strong D man all around and I don't hold it against him that he's on a really strong team.

Duncan KEITH, Chicago Blackhawks

77GP8G,36A,44PTS;PLUS 3360PIM2PPG1SHG1GWG173 shots0.57 PPG

This year Duncan Keith has emerged as the 'complete defenseman'. Paired with Brent Seabrook, has shown exceptional efficiency (a plus 33, highest among d-men in the NHL) while facing the opposition's toughest scorers.

Uses position rather brute strength to neutralize opponents.

Blocks and covers as well as anyone.

Excellent skater and passer who drives the Hawks' transition game.

Very disciplined and takes very few bad penalties.

Strong and responsible on the PP.

Outstanding in his consistency this season.

Has shown himself to be, while not yet equal to Lidstrom in terms of his ability to see and manage the game, to have played as well as the perennial Norris winner this year, on a much less experienced team.

Therefore IMHO he gets the nod.

Scott Niedermayer, 4th in D-man scoring, always a staple on the blue line for the Ducks.

Scotty not only can scoot and score, he can also staple 'em to the boards.

A worthy candidate.

Dude has four Cup rings too. And still looks as good as he ever has out there.

he has room for four more on the other hand and the way he plays, he looks like he wants them that bad too.

If the Ducks beat the Sharks, the Wings are next...Nieds trumps Lids.

I thought the results (votes) are already in and the "finalists" (or the top three vote getters) are Chara, Lidstrom and Green. Whay are we discussing all these other players?

The idea is to name our own choices irrespective of the NHL nominees.
