Absolutely, even plek's worth is way less now than then ...

Diddle them reading about it and feeling bad, they could read about it in TB after I've driven them there and traded them.

As for Gainey - stupid timing, stupid thing to say. Stupid.

Now do the deal and all will be well. Smile

Lawton would hang up as soon as he realized Gainey was calling, he really diddled himself out of Lecavalier now, looks good on him as the team falls to hell around him.

Subban, Gorges, Higgins and Plekanec were the players mentioned. There are no further details about whether there were other considerations.

So, Dave, speaking of Machiavelli, what's your take:

Well, I think while it could potentially be premature to say this, I'll say it nonetheless: i think both Gainey and Lawton misstepped and misspoke, and thus essentially BOTH screwed themselves out of finalizing a deal that could have benefitted both sides...

Now, I say it's premature because in this day and age, STRANGE things happen all the time, expect the unexpected; however, having said that, sometimes, somethings never change, and with this latest PR fiasco, I think Vinny stays in TB and Gainey tries to sort out this sordid mess.

All our Cat names are like that except 3.

Socrates - Passed away

Caeser - Passed away

Tuxedo - Passed away

Ghost - We didn't name him.

Galileo - Got him because he looked like Socrates

Cleopatra - Got her because she looked like Caeser

Cotton - He was a Second anniversary gift and Cotton is the traditional gift.

Machievelli - Pure Bread Ragdoll - Goes limp when you pick him up.

Aristotle - All black cat that we got because my Wife felt guilty after I said. "You don't want him?"

I don't see how Vinny stays in Tampa after getting lied to in public by Brian Lawton...assuming Lawton keeps his job.

Lecavalier's going to have surgery this summer...and I expect he'll have a SERIOUS talk with Len Barrie.

And contrary to the prevailing winds of media opinion, I think Gainey calling out Lawton is a brilliant piece of gamesmanship. He exposes Lawton, while simply confirming what Montreal fans wanted to hear--that the Canadiens wanted and were prepared to deal for Vinny.

It would have been a major coup in Habsland.

Meanwhile in Tampa, the fans are looking at the mess the owners have created--including the botched hyping of Stamkos, and all the things too numerous to list--and now know that Lawton was lying to them about not wanting to trade Vinny.

The PR machine will need to work overtime in Tampa-St Pete.
