Well, if I ever do head there for a game vs the Sens, you guys will be the first to hear about the experience.

Shabbs, do you wear your Sens jersey in Toronto when they play the Leafs? Now that sounds like a scary movie LOL
Scared

davetherave wrote:Now, as an anecdote, when I went to see the Blackhawks play this year at Le Centre Bell, I was warned "Oh, don't wear your Hawks jersey, you'll be looking for trouble..."

Of course, I DID wear my Hawks jersey, as did a number of Hawks fans there--many of us French Canadians as well, by the way...the Blackhawks having had a succession of French Canadian stars like Pilote, St Laurent, 'Pit' Martin, Bordeleau, Savard, Goulet, Matteau and so on...like many NHL teams have, hence each having their own contingents of French Canadian fans..

...just as Czech, Slovak, Russian, etc players have their fans...it's quite normal.

Was I uncomfortable being a Hawks fan in a sea of Habs fans? Not in the least.
I'd be curious to see how it would go down if you wore a Sens jersey or a Leafs jersey, who are known, heated rivals. To be honest, I find it hard to get a real hate-on for the Hawks, they're such an exciting team to watch and have an equally rich history as the Habs being an Original Six team.

I'm willing to bet that if you had been wearing a Sens jersey or a Leafs jersey where the Sens or Leafs were the opponent... it would have been quite a different experience...

...or maybe that's just the skeptic in me.

Wink

Well, the best way to find out is to wear your Sens jersey next time you visit Le Centre Bell for a Sens game LOL.

cool)

PS Ottawa fans have to be the most polite in pro sports...at least as far as I've seen...and I mean that as a sincere compliment.

oh I am certain somewhere thare are A**hole ottawa fans too, every team I am sure has them. I know a guy here where I work, he's a Team manager, and he is a diehard leaf fan, you could throw facts at this guy for eons about how Toronto has been a bad team for the past few years, and he will still argue it based on nothing, he is one of those guys you just can't convince, and when you have him backed into a corner, he lashes out with personal digs/jibes at such people. personal is personal and hockey is hockey, sure we have pride in our teams, but we must leave those areas separate.

For now, the team is a sorry lot, much like we were last year. They will lose and they will put the garbage out. Koivu, Kovalev, Plekanec, Tanguay. All losers of the highest degree. Tanguay might actually rebound - and he might actually want to stay in Montreal.

Koivu will run to the Wild, Kovalev, who knows, Plekanec might stay because he's an RFA, Komisarek has played himself into a 3-3.5 million deal as opposed to a much higher deal, he's been awful.

Hamrlik is a waste of 3 million (he's getting 5.5), they might be able to re-sign Schneider (although I would like to have him).

The only guys worth keeping on their team, are Lang, Markov and Halak. I can't think of much else that I would want to keep.
The best thing is happening to Montreal. They can purge the losers and the guys who have lost the ability to play at high levels and start fresh.

Rebuild time already. Wow.
Facepalm

Montreal, if there was any doubt before it should be officially clear now, is in FULL rebuild mode this summer.

I do at home but have not had the chance to go to a Sens/Leafs game at the ACC - too rich for my blood. My truck will sport the Sens flags and all (when they're playing that is....) and I'll get some honks and jeers... but it's all good.

they are basically a couple of years behind us, maybe one, in the cycle that we went through after being swept by the Pingus, but the difference being, after seeing how the players are handled, coaches are handled, not many players might want to go to the Habs anymore.

Oh, I think there's a massive difference between us and Montreal for attracting UFAs. Players don't really want to come here, but players will NOT go to Montreal.

Lang and Tanguay went. They're pretty big players too. Laracque (like anyone really cares)

We actually had better luck with ours now that I think of it. We had Winchester want to come here, Kuba (through trade mind you, but he waived to come here). Commodore and Stillman had waived to come here. Am I missing anyone?...Auld maybe..

Actually, I would think the way the Sens were playing under Clouston Might (I emphasize MIGHT) help generate some hype and thus bring UFA's here.

They all want to go to Toronto instead to play for Burkie and the Leafs.

Tanguay was via trade with Calgary, Lang was via trade with Chicago. So...Laracque...?

We don't have any $$ anyway, but yeah, I think it would generate some interest.

I think Neely said it best when he said we have to add by subtracting first, now who to subtract, that is a major debate/dilemna Murray has on his hands.

O.k. Game #4 is one night away. Can the B's do it? Can they send the Habs home packing to clean out their lockers and leaving them in a "how-did-this-happen' stupor?

oh the writing is already on the wall for that one, the Habs are at their lowest point of confidence, they played their best game of the series, but still lost, they are defeated now and I am thinking that locker room knows it.
